In early 1970, the border conflict in the Far East between the Soviet Union and China sharply escalated. Additional tension in the situation on the border was brought by UFOs, whose frequent flights in the spring of the same year were registered by the air defense of both sides.
In addition, an increased frequency of UFO sightings was noted over Mongolia, including in the border zone. Mongolian border guards even fired at these objects with anti-aircraft guns. They were the first to publish the message about UFO sightings.
According to them, all flight routes converged somewhere over Soviet territory in an area located 1660 km north-east of the Mongolian capital Ulan Bator.
A more precise place of intersection of flight routes was established by Soviet radar operators. Based on their own observations and reports of local residents, the flight paths were plotted on the map. They all met in the town of Urkan, located in a remote taiga on the Urkan River, the right tributary of the Zeya River. The Soviet Air Force attempted to locate the alleged UFO base from the air, but to no avail.
Nevertheless, eight years later, a disc-shaped object was found in this area, similar in shape to a mushroom head, about 6 m in diameter, 3 m high and weighing 720 kg. The find was taken to Tynda, and from there to Novosibirsk, where it was hidden in the Akademgorodok area, east of the Ob Sea station.
The fact that this region was not accidentally classified as anomalous is confirmed by a message from the Far East that appeared in print in 1982. In August of that year, residents of the village of Magdagachi, which is located about 150 km northeast of Urkan, A. Kruzhalkin and K. Litovchenko, were riding motorcycles late in the evening along a forest road.

Residents of the village ran out into the street. A giant ball-shaped UFO hung in the sky. The dogs in the courtyards howled and barked terribly. The ball hung over the village until four in the morning, then soared into the sky and dissolved in it.
It should be emphasized that at that time there was good dry weather in the area, there were no thunderstorms or lightning. So it is impossible to "write off" what happened to nature.
The essential features of UFO behavior in the described episode are: 1) the sudden appearance of an object - as if from nowhere; 2) transformation of appearance; 3) the duration of the "demonstration".
