Research conducted by biologists at Stanford University in California suggests that regular injections of blood from young mice to older mice renew connections between cells in the cerebral cortex, improve memory and rejuvenate the body as a whole. In the future, scientists are planning to conduct similar experiments on humans.
The Guardian writes about this on October 18 with reference to a report made by Professor Saul Villeda at the annual conference of the Society for Neuroscience in New Orleans.
In the course of their experiments, Stanford biologists established a connection between the blood vessels of the old and young mice, allowing blood to mix and circulate in their bodies - which led to a dramatic improvement in the state of the brain of the old mouse, which began to behave much like a much younger one.
This rejuvenation method is currently being tested in mice with a disease similar to Alzheimer's and, according to informed sources, the experiment is being successful. Scientists believe that treating Alzheimer's with young blood will be more effective than penicillin injections used today.
In addition, experimental results prove that infusions of young blood also strengthen the muscles of the elderly, their liver and the immune system. Scientists note that these studies are still in the initial stages, but over time they plan to conduct experiments on humans.
