Scientists were able to calculate the mass of cosmic dark matter. This is reported by the Independent.

Dark matter is not visible to the eye, but its presence in outer space has been proven. Its particles cannot produce or reflect light, but scientists believe that this phenomenon creates a gravitational effect in our galaxy. Despite many studies, until now no one has been able to establish the nature of black matter, it, in some way, remains a mystery to this day.

Recently, scientists have made progress in the study of black matter, they were able to measure the mass of its main building element - the axion. Its weight ranges from 50 to 1500 microelectronvolts, which is 10 billion times lighter than an electron. This information will help in the future to study black matter, experts say. The exact number of axions has not been established, but, presumably, for every cubic centimeter of the universe there are 10 million of these elements, and in every cubic centimeter of the Milky Way there are almost a trillion axions.
