The British Ministry of Defense has declassified a new portion of "classified materials" on UFO sightings: 24 cases from 1994 to 2000 total more than 6 thousand pages, The Guardian reports

One of the files contains investigative materials on the statement of six citizens who, in 1997, saw a large, "buzzing" object in the sky above the home of then Secretary of the Interior Michael Howard in Folkestone. Witnesses suspected that the "aliens" were interested in the politician.

According to the official report, "the Defense Department's air defense service confirmed that no evidence of an unauthorized invasion of UK airspace was found on that date."

In the question of whether aliens live among us, the British government still refrains from unambiguous assessments, notes The Guardian.

The Defense Department only cautiously declares that "today we do not have data that could be regarded as evidence of the existence of extraterrestrial life."

We will remind, in August 2009 the British National Archives published materials testifying to 800 cases of sightings of UFOs. In some cases, the police and the military themselves witnessed unexplained phenomena.

For example, the bright lights that 70 police and military personnel saw on the morning of March 31, 1993 in Devon and Cornwall, South Wales and Shropshire were described in thirty documents.
