Recently, the armies of different countries are paying more and more attention to the fight against unmanned aerial vehicles. For example, the other day, specialists from the American defense company Raytheon tested the latest microwave cannon at one of the military training grounds, which is extremely effective in dealing with drones and even shells.

The tests took place at an Oklahoma military training ground called Fort Sill. The microwave gun itself is called High-Powered Microwave (HPM). The creation of the Raytheon company was able to remotely destroy 45 unmanned aerial vehicles of various types and even 6 mortar shells. A feature of the HPM system is also that in one shot it disables 2-3 drones located at a decent distance from each other.

In addition, experts emphasize that in the future, existing mobile complexes can be easily converted to work with HPM. It is also worth noting that the development is being carried out as part of the US Department of Defense's Maneuver Fires Integrated Experiment program, which is aimed at producing inexpensive and at the same time effective means of countering drones. Within the framework of this program, a HEL (High-Energy Laser) laser cannon was also created. But it, unlike HRM, acts pointwise and shoots down single aircraft. The actual video of testing the gun is available below.
