Doctors of a hospital near Moscow were amazed to discover that the patient had an abnormality in the brain, or rather the complete absence of the left hemisphere of the brain.
At the same time, the 60-year-old patient himself did not know anything about this, he lived an ordinary life, at one time he served in the army, received a higher education, started a family, and worked as an engineer until retirement. He has never had any mental, motor or vision problems.
An unnamed man was admitted to the hospital with suspicion of a transistor ischemic attack, but when he underwent computed tomography, it turned out that in the part of the brain where the attack occurred, there was absolutely no brain matter.
As a rule, such a congenital absence of one of the cerebral hemispheres means either severe disability or death in infancy. But this case turned out to be the very rare exception, when the remaining right hemisphere took over all the necessary functions.
The consequences of the ischemic attack in the patient caused problems with the mobility of one arm and one leg, but soon everything went away in the hospital and he was discharged home. When asked to undergo a more complete examination of his unusual anomaly, the patient refused.

Scientists are aware of such cases, but as a rule such people have problems with motor functions. According to experts, most likely the anomaly happened at a very early stage in the development of the fetus, possibly due to some kind of hemorrhage or other case. This often leads to miscarriages, but even here the fetus was able to "hold on".
