The Antikythera mechanism is an absolutely unique device. Nothing like him was found anywhere and never. The find dates back to the beginning of our era, therefore it is difficult to link even with the “civilization of the gods”, which disappeared since 2200 BC … Thus, the mechanism and its origin is a huge mystery. Scientists have determined that this bizarre device, consisting of clock-like bronze gears and a scoreboard, was used, at a minimum, to predict lunar and solar eclipses, calculate the position of the Sun, Moon and other planets, as well as to determine the course of a ship - a kind of universal meter space … However, as it turns out now, it is possible that time too.
Years of research have made it possible to translate some of the miniature inscriptions on this device. Some of the words in the 82 surviving fragments of the mechanism were only 1.2 millimeters long. The other day at an event held at the Library of the Historical Foundation of Katerina Laskaridis in Athens, an international team of researchers announced the results of the analysis and translation of this technological relic.
The results are shocking, as scientists have found divisions on the device that translate as "Past" and "Future". Elements of gears could become on them. Was it really a real "time machine"?!..
In addition, scientists have supplemented and expanded the understanding of the astronomical and astrological functions of the mechanism, of which there really were a huge variety …
The researchers also concluded that the device was more likely the work of an entire small workshop than a single human genius. And they assumed that the "address" of the workshop was on the island of Rhodes, famous for its Colossus of Rhodes, one of the Wonders of the World …
