Every day more and more people are preoccupied with sorting waste. Here and there, articles by various activists and members of various movements about the compulsory waste sorting are constantly popping up.

The most common arguments are that in Europe everyone has been doing this a long time ago, it is environmentally friendly, we will make the planet cleaner, throwing garbage into one bin is a scoop and a relic of the past, sorting garbage is a sign of high culture, it’s fashionable in the end. And further: it is necessary to brew the garbage chute - this is a breeding ground for cockroaches and the cause of the stench, we will put containers for separate collection of garbage in the yard, it is so beautiful, instead of parking lots, we don’t need to stink with exhaust gases here, as everyone does in Europe, here is a new design of containers for separate garbage collection, etc. We hear all this quite often on various networks, on the street, and from neighbors in the house. As a rule, this is broadcast by caring housewives, activists, civil activists, a category of people who completely refuse to use air conditioners (freon in the same place !!!) and microwaves (microwaves in the same place !!!),"Onizhemothers" as well, and those who not long ago assured that it is harmful to use mobile phones.

I'd like to figure out why these people neglect their own comfort in the name of a clean planet and preserving the environment around the world.

We bought an apartment - we chose the area, the view from the window, the availability of parking, two elevators in the house and the presence of a garbage chute on the floor. I had to live in a house where there was a garbage chute earlier, and then this house switched to separate waste collection. Rather, the entire city was transferred to separate waste collection.

So that's it. I would like to share information about what happened during the transition and what we have lost and gained. At one point, containers with the words "paper", "plastic", "glass" and a couple of containers without inscriptions for ordinary garbage appeared in front of the entrance. A total of five containers.

Just at the parking place in front of the entrance, taking three parking spaces. Residents of high-rise buildings are well aware of how important parking spaces in front of the house are if there is no underground parking. These places are always small … Moreover, it is important to organize the access of garbage trucks to these containers. For your information, there are several garbage collection vehicles. Every day, the garbage is picked up by one machine equipped to receive containers with ordinary garbage. All other containers are emptied by other machines, each of them is equipped with special grippers for "its" container, be it glass, plastic or paper. They are all different machines. There are four of them. On some days, only a car arrives to collect ordinary garbage. Sometimes two come. There are days when all come at once. And this is almost at every entrance. Through one staircase, to be precise. That is, not only are people buying apartments in the house, where the chute was, they lost it, so even with the packages you have to go through the floor of the yard - take out the garbage. This adds a decent amount of discomfort. Imagine - in the morning, leaving home to work with your child (goes to kindergarten or school). In one hand there is a bag for work, in the other hand a bag or several (we sort …) bags of garbage, a child is nearby, the same neighbor is in the elevator with two bags of garbage in his hands … and on the first floor, when leaving the elevator, we are met by rubbish on the floor - the package could not stand someone … It's a common thing. The neighbor complains "and what kind of people …" pointing to the garbage. And in my thoughts “Yes, I did the same yesterday, I took out the trash and the package could not stand it…”. There is nothing to collect the spilled garbage and there is no time. So the kind of scattered garbage in the entrance is a common occurrence. The same picture for containers. Often the containers are overfilled and the garbage is piled up next to the containers and the wind blows all the garbage around the yard … Dirty. If someone parked the car and blocked the approach to the container, it is not uncommon to see a garbage bag on the hood. A benevolent neighbor thus makes it clear that there is no need to block the path to the container. Cats and dogs, unceremoniously tear up the abandoned packages and thus contribute to the spread of garbage throughout the yard. The number of stray dogs and cats is growing exponentially. (There is where to spend time and what to eat.) In summer, during the season, watermelons flow from containers. Stink, naturally. In the mornings, the employees of the garbage truck knock on the wheels of the cars that block the way to the garbage collection container, so that the alarm would go off and the owner, when he hears, will remove the car. Then another car pulls up to collect the paper container. History repeats itself … Noisy. In winter, the situation is aggravated when the snow is removed and the equipment rakes up snowdrifts. Getting close to containers is not always easy. Climbing the ice. Women in fur coats and civilian shoes with garbage bags too … In general, it feels like in a village where the toilet is outside. Somehow I was lucky enough to go to my grandmother in winter … And in the evening on TV we watch how an atomic reactor jumped at some Fukushima, and dirty water got into the ocean. Thus, irreparable damage was caused to the ecology of the world. And about the spilled oil in the Shelom ocean … There is damage, so damage! And the enterprises dumping liquids into rivers and smoking into the sky … and diesel engines on cars smoking with black soot … And by the way, what is the conservation of the environment when sorting waste? His (garbage) is less, what will become? Why are the residents of the houses forced to endure discomfort?

At each dump, if someone had to observe, people are working to sort the garbage. Yes Yes. They sort all the cars that arrive on paper, plastic and glass.

They are hired by enterprising people who give up garbage for scrap for money. This is their business. They make money sorting waste.

Other enterprising people set up bins outside our homes to collect waste separately for recycling purposes. This is their business.

Thus, under the guise of saving the environment, we, residents of high-rise buildings, are involved in business as a free labor force. Very beneficial! You can exhale - yes, it's not a pity to help us, it's a good thing, your hands won't fall off, the main thing is ecology on the planet!

Garbage taken out from the house is paid by the tenants through the bills of the company that is engaged in garbage disposal. The tariff is calculated based on the norms of household waste produced by a person in cubic meters. There are such norms. I recognized it myself. With the advent of additional containers for separate waste collection, the rates and tariffs do not change. Of course, the company that takes out garbage only benefits from the appearance of additional containers!

Residents pay for garbage in cubes, give additional income to the company that utilizes garbage. In addition, we help entrepreneurs who earn money by collecting paper, glass, and plastic. And all this with a smile and screams about the ecology of the planet! Yes, how much of this money is there, it's not a pity! Why waste time on trifles?

Yes, because of the separate collection of garbage, the demand for garbage bags has increased threefold in the stores selling them. And for some reason no one thinks that it is possible to simply prohibit cellophane to be used everywhere. Leave where you can't do without it. Use paper bags made from recycled materials for packaging, at least in markets. Set a high excise tax on polyethylene. The price of the package will become so high that not everyone will buy a new one. They will throw out less.

I mean, few people care about reducing the harm caused by the manufacturers of harmful substances. But there is agitation for separate waste collection in every city! Directly at the level of the authorities. Doesn't it seem strange to anyone?

I would like to add that sorting waste is not only a waste of time! you will learn about this from the article.
