Scientists at the University of Tokyo not only found traces of this long-standing collision, but also suggested (starting from a computer model and their research) that all gold on Earth originated as a result of, in their scrupulous terminology, "large-scale planetary impact." And speaking a little more simply - the collision of the Earth and Phaeton tangentially.
They managed to find out that the diameter of Phaeton during the collision was from 2.5 to 3 thousand km. - that is, it was larger than Pluto.
Experts compared the levels of platinum and gold on the terrestrial planets - Venus, Earth and Mars, as well as the Moon. It showed, firstly, that the collision with Phaeton occurred even before the formation of the earth's crust on our planet, and secondly, it was thanks to him that the Moon entered its current orbit around the Earth, and thirdly, after this "interaction" on Earth, gold appeared (as well as some other precious metals).
Such a playful thought arises. We know that later the "gods" mined gold (and other fossils) on Earth, this was one of the main purposes of their stay here. Didn't they fire up the "space ball", which was at the dawn of the Phaethon solar system, having calculated the consequences and stabilized the Earth with the Moon ?!
