Exploration of Mars and other planets located in other solar systems, from the point of view of their possible colonization, is undoubtedly a very useful and promising occupation. Especially in light of the growing chorus of scientists from all over the world, who persistently inform the population that there are too many of them on Earth. And soon there will be even more, and somewhere we will all have to move.

But where? The issue of colonizing planets is very acute, but its full-fledged solution will take years, if not decades. That is why the leading countries turn their attention not so much to distant planets, as to what is closer. And the closest to us is our natural satellite - the Moon.

The moon has not yet been properly studied, and therefore it should not be written off just for the reason that there is no atmosphere on it. The United States, Russia, China and other countries take the colonization of the moon more than seriously. Even more interest in the Moon was spurred by the discoveries of Japanese astronomers, who claim that there is a powerful network of caves and tunnels under its surface.

In 2009, a Japanese apparatus designed to study the moon photographed a mysterious hole called the "lunar hole" on a plateau called "Marius Hills". Later, the American camera shot the "hole" with a higher resolution, which made it possible to study it much more thoroughly. It turned out that the "hole" is quite large - 65 meters in diameter and over 80 meters deep. Later, another "hole" was discovered in the "Sea of Dreams" - on the opposite side of the moon.

At first, scientists thought that these "holes" were traces of ancient volcanic activity. But a subsequent, more thorough study showed that in those areas where they are located there were no volcanoes. But the most interesting thing is the next discovery, made literally this year. The fact is that, in addition to the "holes" (the depth of which has not yet been clearly determined), strange gravitational anomalies are observed in the area of their location, which can speak only of one thing - there are voids under the surface of the Moon.

Sublunar tunnels

Simply put, our natural satellite is pierced by tunnels of unknown origin that last for hundreds of kilometers, and the “holes” are just exits from these tunnels.

This discovery could significantly accelerate the colonization of the moon. Indeed, one of the most difficult problems of settling a satellite is the construction of residential sealed and safe modules on its surface, the construction of giant, expensive domes over them. The presence of tunnels partially solves this problem, since the depth of their location will allow colonists to hide not only from radiation, but also from terrible temperature changes on the surface. In general, the tunnels themselves can be half-finished housing. It is only necessary to fence off the necessary part and install gateways there gateways. There is also the assumption that somewhere under the surface of the moon there are rocks containing water. If they are found, the tunnels can be equipped with installations for the production of oxygen, and the "Moon City" is almost ready.
