Sixth Center of Power
The "third eye" is one of the oldest esoteric concepts. It originates in Hinduism, among the general concept of chakras. To put it very simply, chakras are energy centers on the human body, the intersection points of the mystical nadi channels, along which the vital force - qi, or prana - moves. The nadi channels are the same circulatory system, only in a spiritual sense.
If you open and clear a person's chakras, then he will be happy in half with enlightenment. But you need to open it not just like that, but with intelligence and discipline.
Each chakra is located strictly in its place. From bottom to top: the first and second are in the groin area, the third is the solar plexus, the fourth is the chest, the fifth is the throat, the sixth is between the eyebrows, the seventh is at the crown. Ajna (translated from Sanskrit - “control center”) is traditionally depicted as a circle of indigo color, bordered by two lotus petals, and refers to the element of light. She is primarily responsible for intuition and brain function, and with proper development, for clairvoyance, telepathy, hypnosis and other extrasensory perception.
Numerous popular meditation guides indicate that to open the "third eye" it is enough just to rub your forehead between your eyebrows or focus your energy on the point of the "third eye", and in half an hour you will discover the wonders of the universe. In fact, as recognized yoga teachers say, everything is much more complicated.
The "third eye" slumbers while its owner is in the captivity of illusions. A person sees nothing around him except a meager world consisting of work, home and a limited range of interests. He is not interested in religion, science, art, or philosophy. The secrets of the universe for him are an empty sound, unable to break through the armor of weariness and indifference. The illusion of a closed space hides all the beauty of the universe, replacing it with a crude fake. When a person realizes this, trying to break out of the vicious circle, Ajna awakens and begins to open.
The longer an interested person works on himself, the more opportunities the "third eye" offers him. Inspiration for work and creativity comes, control over various areas of life is established. But for the ability to see the future or read thoughts, simple self-study is not enough. Such mastery is achieved only through many years of training under the guidance of the coolest yogis and lamas. What to do, with great power comes great responsibility, and it must be earned.
Mysterious organ
Biologists say that there are no physiological structures in the human body that personify the chakras. Disputes on this topic do not fade for a minute for decades, if not centuries, but, oddly enough, they affect the "third eye" least of all. The fact is that the physical analogue of the "third eye" is quite real - this is the pineal gland, it is the pineal gland, it is the pineal gland. It is a tiny organ in the center of the brain, just opposite the gap between the eyebrows. Its functions are not clearly known, it is only obvious that the pineal gland produces hormones necessary for a healthy cycle of sleep and wakefulness.
It would seem, how is a mysterious piece of the brain connected with one of the most significant concepts in esotericism? The fact is that in many animals - reptiles, amphibians, fish and lampreys - the pineal gland is not just hidden somewhere in the head, but has an outlet to the surface just like an eye. Almost a real third eye, although scientists prefer the term "parapineal organ".
The key word, of course, is "almost." If you look closely at the heads of lizards and frogs, in which the eye is most clearly visible on the crown, you will see a small speck covered with thin skin of a different color. In terms of functions, the parapineal organ is not far from the ordinary eye: there is a retina, a nerve, a lens, with the help of which the animal can distinguish between light and shadow. Moreover, most of the capabilities of the third eye in animals are as mysterious as in the human pineal gland.
For example, it is extremely important for leeches and fish to distinguish between a change in light from above - what if there is danger? In lizards, ordinary eyes are perfectly adapted for this, and nevertheless they actively use the third eye for orientation in space. One of the common theories says that the parapineal organ allows you to see the lines of force of the Earth's magnetic fields and accurately determine the direction in any terrain. One wonders if the lizards are far from clairvoyance and telepathy.
Llama from Britain
The possibilities offered by an open “third eye” are truly impressive. But some examples of their manifestations can surprise or even scare. In the last century lived one of the strangest adepts of the sixth chakra, whose name was Tuesday Lobsang Rampa. He claimed to be a Tibetan lama who had taken over the body of a British plumber.
Cyril Hoskin, 40, has never been content with his life. One day he fell from a tree while trying to photograph an owl, hit his head and lost consciousness.
While fainting, the spirit of a Buddhist monk appeared to him and politely asked if Cyril would allow him to occupy his body.
The lama died prematurely, not having time to reveal to the world some extremely important things, and would very much like to correct this. Cyril agreed - and disappeared, took the place of a monk in nirvana.
And in his body was Lobsang Rampa, who immediately began work on a series of esoteric works, primarily concerning the opening of the "third eye".
And not only in a spiritual sense: the lama wrote that as a child, the monks performed a surgical operation on him, literally drilling the third eye in the skull. Moreover, its magical properties were transferred to the astral body of the lama, which allowed him to carry out the transmigration of souls. They tried to expose Lobsang as a deceiver, but this idea failed miserably: a middle-aged British plumber who had never traveled to Tibet simply could not have the amount of information necessary to write 18 weighty books on such a specific topic. As a result, even the most hardened skeptics left the reborn lama alone.
Peace and freedom
It is believed that the third eye was much more pronounced in the first reptiles, amphibians and lizardmen than in modern individuals. We are not talking about people, although some philosophers considered the pineal gland as a probable "storehouse of the soul." You should also not rely on the experience of Lobsang Rampa and drill your skull in the hope of awakening mystical forces: without the support of the great Eastern teachers, this will, at best, cause a constant headache.
The teachings of yogis and lamas, no matter how confusing they are, in fact say one thing: a person should not stop developing. You need to know the world within yourself and know the world around you - and come to terms with both worlds. It doesn't really matter if you are capable of astral travel or mind reading. The highest value that a person is able to see with the “third eye” is harmony with oneself.
