Antidepressants slow the aging process, scientists say. Research by the research team from TSRI confirms this earlier assumption.
A team of experts from the Scripps Research Institute have completed a lengthy study on a fairly serious topic. We are talking about the influence of powerful antidepressants called "mianserin" and caenorhabditis elegans, which are widely used in experiments for scientific purposes.
As it was revealed in the course of parallel observation over the control group of roundworms, the drug mianserin is able to affect the biological life expectancy up to 30-40%. Life expectancy under the influence of caenorhabditis elegans averages 2 to 3 weeks. The control group of worms was injected with mianserin and caenorhabditis elegans, while the normal group was given water. After a while, it turned out that the cells of the first group of worms began to slightly rejuvenate, after which this process accelerated, reaching an effect of 30-40%.
