Video: Thousands of black birds - aka grackles - take over parking lot in Houston 2024, May

A huge flock of black birds, as if caught in a tornado funnel, circled over the tall buildings that stood along the highway in Houston, the largest city in Texas. This mysterious event took place in the deepening dusk on January 20, 2017 (see video below).

Immediately I remembered shots from the fantastic film Night Watch, where black crows, symbolizing the dark forces, circled in the same way over the skyscrapers.

It is not clear what could have caused the accumulation of such a number of birds in Houston, which did not even pay attention to cars moving at high speed and threw themselves directly under the wheels or dived on the windshield.

Most likely, this could have happened due to bad weather, as in a video that appeared on YouTube a few days later, you can see how the sky was covered with dark storm clouds.

The birds appear black, which means they can be blackbirds, crows, or common grackles, which are often seen on the streets of Houston.

Huge flocks of birds have already been spotted in 2015 and 2015. Bird watcher Hannah Bailey of Houston Zoo reported that a large group of blackbirds appeared in the city in October 2016. Birds in large flocks seem to find it easier to warm up or find food. However, this does not explain why they attacked cars on the highway.

Maybe the black birds wanted to warn people about something? So far, this remains a mystery.
