According to Colombano, current perceptions of aliens are too stereotyped because extraterrestrial life can be significantly different from carbon-based terrestrial life.
Aliens can be many levels smarter than us and more advanced in technology. But they can also be so tiny that if they fly to us on Earth, we simply won't notice it.
And it is quite possible that they already did this in the distant and not very distant past and influenced us.
Colombano believes that most scientists when talking about alien life are too fixated on human realities and concepts and transfer them to aliens.
The professor also says that now we do not even really know anything about how an alien planet inhabited by intelligent life should look like, and therefore it is quite possible that in our searches we miss them without even realizing it. Moreover, our knowledge of the universe as a whole is still very small.
According to Colombano, people should stop paying so much attention to the search for radio bursts as evidence of extraterrestrial life, since it is "out of date." Instead, it is desirable to do "alternative physics".
Colombano is sure that people should also take a closer look at the UFO phenomenon, because not all of them can be explained by logical reasons and many remain a mysterious phenomenon.
