Perhaps the development of science has given us a bunch of all sorts of nice things like air travel, the Internet and robots. However, it brought no less bad news. The other day, scientists have proved the complete inconsistency of the idea of an afterlife: we will all die and this will be final.
Sean Carroll, professor of cosmology and physics at California Institute of Technology, explains that for the afterlife to exist, consciousness must be completely separated from our physical body. In fact, consciousness is nothing more than atoms and electrons brought together.
Physics does not leave any chance that consciousness will be preserved after physical death. In addition, quantum field theory (QFT) also does not allow for the existence of any particles not yet known to science.
Roughly speaking, the QFT paradigm implies the existence of separate fields for each type of particle: one for photons, another for electrons, and so on.
If there was any kind of afterlife, quantum testing would reveal special particles as well. Unfortunately, no special particles exist in nature.
