• Until recently, scientists believed that if a drowned person is not taken out of the water for 5-6 minutes, he will certainly die due to irreversible pathological changes in the cerebral cortex, as a result of acute oxygen deficiency. But it turned out that in cold water this period of time can be significantly longer. 5-year-old Finnish child Timmy Hämälainen fell through the ice. Almost an hour later, the boy's body was taken ashore and began to do artificial respiration and heart massage. Soon the child began to show signs of life, and after two days, consciousness returned to him.
• Student John Noram from Jackson spent almost the same time under the ice of a frozen pond. When he was found and dragged ashore, he was dead. And yet Noram came to life. According to M. Johnson of the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, "not all people who were brought out of the water blue, lifeless and seemingly dead are necessarily dead, even if they were under water for more than half an hour." • 1983, May 11 - in the morgue of the English city of Sheffield, using a portable cardiograph, signs of life were found in an 18-year-old girl. However, medical technology does not always help. Often the devices cannot give a 100% guarantee that the person in front of the doctors will not wake up after some time on his deathbed. And God forbid that this happens underground. At the time of death, a group of scientists began freezing the professor's body in order to "resurrect" it when medicine is omnipotent. Previously, a substance was introduced into the blood that prevents its clotting. Then the blood was replaced with artificial plasma. The heart was replaced by a heart-lung machine. At the same time, the body was frozen with dry ice and a few days later it was transferred to a cryocapsule, similar to a huge thermos filled with liquid nitrogen.
Since 1972 in the city of Formingdale (America) began its work "clinic for the dead". All patients who are now in hermetically sealed storage facilities with a constant low temperature were dying with the hope that someday they would return to life. Today in America dozens of deceased millionaires are patiently waiting for their "resurrection".

• 1965, winter - to the hospital morgue of a state farm in the Moscow region. the corpse of a man was delivered. Despite this conclusion, Dr. M. Yu. Kovalev took vigorous measures to revive the victim: warming up with warm water, stimulating cardiac activity, artificial respiration, heart massage. After an hour and a half of resuscitation measures, the doctor managed to restore the life of the person. As it turned out, the injured 29-year-old tractor driver was driving a tractor along a deserted steppe road. Unfortunately, the engine stalled. The tractor driver set off on foot. On the way, exhausted, he fell asleep. The man was in the snow for about 3-4 hours.
• Among those dying from hypothermia, there are also champions. As Charles Fiore and Alan Lindsberg (USA) write in their book On the Road to Richmond, Canada's Edward Ted Milligan and Jean Jobbone were most in the state of “registered death”. Milligan was dead for about two hours, and Jean Jobbone doubled that time. On the way home on a frosty January morning, after a night away, she suddenly passed out. At seven in the morning, a bystander stumbled upon Jean, but due to an unfavorable coincidence, she was taken to the hospital only an hour and a half later. She had no heartbeat, no breathing, her pupils did not react to light, and her body temperature was 11 degrees. Jean Jobbone was dead for 4 hours while 7 doctors, 10 nurses and several nurses fought for her life.
• However, the most astonishing case was probably in Mongolia. Here, in the winter of 1987, a boy who froze to death in the steppe lay for 12 hours in the snow in a 34-degree frost. When the boy was found, he had no breathing and no pulse. After the start of resuscitation, a hint of pulse appeared - two beats per minute. Then the resuscitators worked for many hours until they managed to restore their breathing and hear the faint moan of the child. A day later, he wiggled a finger, then a hand. Fully consciousness returned to him only two days later. A week later, the boy was discharged home with a laconic conclusion: "There are no pathological changes."
• The Guinness Book of Records describes three cases when people survived, despite the fact that their body temperature dropped to 16 degrees. 1951, February 1 - Dorothy Mae Stevens was found frozen on a street in Chicago; 1956, January 21 - 2-year-old girl Vicki Davis was found in an unheated house in Marshalltown, Iowa.
