Roll-roll a liquid apple, on a silver saucer,

show me cities and fields, show me forests and seas, show me the height of the mountains and the beauty of heaven … - Russian fairy tale.

Baba Yaga flies on a stupa, sweeps her trail with a broom

A stupa is this:

We now say - "flying saucer", but then there were no plates in everyday life (it is inconvenient to wash dishes in the absence of running water and Fairy). We ate from a common cauldron, spoons, the whole family in turn. Therefore, something convex and rounded most resembled a stupa. But note - for some reason, both we and our ancestors have the same associations - kitchen:)

(By the way, the round plate-like shape for an aircraft is not very convenient in terms of layout and aerodynamics. In my opinion, there is only one explanation - the propulsion or anti-gravitator is something large and rotating, which determines the shape of the ship).

The footprint from the stupa is this:

About "sweeping with a broomstick." Have you noticed that at first the trail is thin and clear, and then it is scattered like dust with a broom? And then the trail disappears altogether! Where does he disappear, if at first he is so obvious? For an uneducated aborigine, it is Baba Yaga who covers her trail with a broomstick, so that they will not find her on the trail …

And what is a liquid apple? Which rides on a platter?

To find the desired point on google-earth, you first have to rotate the planet, turning it to the desired side. Here's a ball rolling (spinning)

It is unnecessary, I suppose, to explain that for an aboriginal the image of the planet Earth did not mean absolutely anything familiar and understandable. What will he see if the planet's "ball" is turned on a small screen in front of him? He will see the apple, liquid (the sides are yellow in places), and this apple rolls around on the dish (turns his fingers on the touchscreen).

Do you know how it was necessary to activate the "silver saucer"? For this it is necessary to "sentence the cherished words." Oh how! Voice control. In general, the idea of voice commands in fairy tales (all these "Sim-sim, open up" is such a techno-track that is simply impossible not to notice. No archaic technique can do this - you cannot command a cart or a mill with your voice. Why is it archaic - another ten years ago, the technique was not controlled by voice …

(It is absolutely impossible for a medieval storyteller to invent such a thing, and there are no inventions in fairy tales, and there could not have been them by definition. Today fairy tales play the role of “fantasy for children.” And before they replaced science with history, along with newspapers and television. Fairy tales - it is the memory of the people.

For an archaic person, inventing a fairy tale is like deliberately lying to children in a physics or geography lesson. You won't lie to the children in the textbook, will you? And in fairy tales there are no fantasies, except perhaps inevitable distortions.)

Do you know what happened when the "saucer" was turned on? If the words are cherished to say?

“Suddenly there was a silver ringing. The whole upper room was filled with light. What do you think about this? A standard melody when you turn on the gadget, and then the bright screen turns on - everything is as usual !!

“And there is something that they say - look, this is new! But this was already in the centuries before us"

Magic ball

What does Baba Yaga give Ivan Tsarevich so that he finds the desired distant object (for example, the place where Kashchei lives?)

She gives him a ball. Then the prince goes for the ball. Is it strange? Does it look like nothing? Only at first glance.

In fact, we are talking about the track on the navigator screen. What does the track look like on screen? Like a line. But a line is an abstraction, an uneducated person does not know abstract concepts. What will he call the curving colored line on the screen? He will call it a thread, a thread.

And where did the ball come from, I think now it is clear. Imagine the narrator tells:

And Baba Yaga gave Ivan Tsarevich such a thing, with a thread, and he walked along the thread …

What's with the thread? - interrupt his listeners? A ball or something?

And indeed, she gave him the ball. Here, I suppose the ball rolled and the thread was unwound, and Ivan Tsarevich walked along the thread …

Something like this looked like a thread in a magic ball, with the help of which Ivan Tsarevich led the way to the kingdom of Koscheevo:

What's more interesting:

- what a silver saucer, a ball, or an apple is, would have been incomprehensible even ten to fifteen years ago. And the old tale describes even the details with amazing accuracy. "Silver ringing" when turned on, and the "room lit up" from the screen on … Ah!

- Do you know where the youngest daughter got the silver saucer? I asked my father to buy it at the market! So that's it. And the words are cherished - the old woman suggested to her, whom she fed by chance. Presumably, the old woman suggested buying a saucer.

That is, we have a classic Fallaut, when in city bazaars, among plucked chickens, damask knives, morocco boots and oak barrels, antique remains of the former techno-luxury are also sold. Which no one already knows how to use. So, the gizmo is interesting - but it seems to be no use, so no one buys. But everything happened recently - that's why such aipads are still found on antique counters, and the old women sometimes remember how to turn them on …

- How old is the fairy tale? I am sure that long-term (one thousand or two years, for example) preservation of such tales is impossible. The tale describes, in essence, everyday life. By no means are the epic deeds of Vladimir Krasn Solnyshko, for example, worthy of preservation for centuries. Moreover, everyday life, completely incomprehensible to the peasant - in contrast to the same deeds of Vladimir.

Each generation, new and new events occur, and events for the people are really important (not everyday life). These events become the plots of fairy tales (that is, an unwritten story, something that is told to each other by the fire, or sitting by the stove, to the younger generation).

These events will inevitably crowd out old incomprehensible stories that do not have any intelligible meaning. Such as this tale.

I tend to believe that this tale is not very old. It was probably several generations old when it was first recorded. But not in a couple of thousand years. And it was hardly recorded earlier than the 19th century.

- Pay attention, all ancient gadgets - with clearly comparable to the modern level of technology - for some reason did not have problems with the battery. This is the question of the perpetual motion machine and free ether energy, all that. In other words, if our technologies have matured to the iPad, it would be high time for us to close the issue with energy. But no - we can have an iPad today, but an eternal battery - no, no. Download oil.

- And the last thing. It looks like the last time everything was covered with a copper basin, approximately at our current level of technology;)

***

All people have a fear of the dark, although, of course, to varying degrees.

Children are usually afraid of the dark. Some women also experience an unmotivated fear of the dark - sometimes it even takes extreme (like in children) forms. It is almost impossible to enter a dark room alone, even if it is her own bedroom and the woman herself has just left it, turning off the light. For a man, of course, to be afraid of the dark is kind of indecent. We are not afraid:) But if at the level of influence on behavior we are practically not subject to fear (that is, we can calmly be even in complete darkness), nevertheless, darkness awakens some fear in us. It's just that we habitually defeat him by an effort of will.

The author of these lines somehow deliberately went to wander alone through the caves near Moscow (Syany). It is out of curiosity - when you are alone in a large dungeon, all possible fears (darkness, the risk of getting lost, a possible collapse) in loneliness are felt more strongly, and I wanted to experience the sensations. Nothing special happened, of course - but nevertheless it was possible to quite clearly feel the inclinations of that very unmotivated fear. A bit of ancient horror, driven back to the subcortex by an effort of will. As a good seasoning for underground travel. In a group, she disappears, but when alone, she is clearly present.

And this is not the fear of getting lost, and not the fear of collapse. These fears, of course, also escalate in loneliness. But these are rational, understandable fears. And that fear, which is horror - is completely different. You are not afraid of something, but of someone. Whom?

When else do we feel this fear? This requires darkness, but in normal conditions (for example, at home) darkness alone is not enough. You should still see something in the far corner. And before your brain or eyesight tell you - it's nonsense, they say, it's just a familiar piece of furniture - you have time to get scared. For a split second, that very ancient horror will look into you. But the question is - why are you so scared?

What do you see in the dark? Unclear outlines of what - we are sometimes so frightened even in our own apartment? What are children afraid of?

If you ask children or a woman who is afraid of the dark (it is more difficult for a child to explain her feelings) - what, they say, are you so afraid of in a dark room, she will always tell you the same thing: “monsters”. They are afraid of the monster! In your own room! Brad, isn't it?

"What the fuck is a monster, you tell them?" Where can a monster come from in an apartment? Yes, even on the street at night, and even in the night forest - no monster has anywhere to come from. And in your own bedroom ?! And then, even if there is an unconscious fear of a certain monster, why does it disappear so suddenly in the light?

Let's try to understand the question.

How does official science explain the fear of the dark? As far as I know, it is generally accepted that we inherited the fear of the dark from our ancestors - who were used to being afraid of nocturnal predators.

Nonsense, of course. First, our ancestors were not afraid of animals. To put it mildly. The ancient sites are filled with the bones of the most dangerous predators of that time - cave bears and cave lions. These animals were much larger and more dangerous than their modern relatives. And our ancestors coped with them with primitive melee weapons. Not even iron! And, after all, no one forced them to hunt such creatures - you can eat herbivores, I suppose a deer is tastier than a lion? That is, the ancestors just had fun. Replaced the TV, yeah. So I doubt the fear of animals has moved on from these tough guys. Here is the passion for hunting - it has passed, and it is clearly visible.

Secondly, any dangerous animal, if it is dangerous, is dangerous during the day. However, for some reason a specific fear arises in us only in the dark.

At the same time, we do not have any fears when entering, for example, in the afternoon into a forest thicket. On the contrary, I personally, for example, in the forest feel a pleasant serenity. Our distant ancestors were not afraid of forest animals, and they did not convey any such fear to us …

And finally, when you have this unaccountable fear in the dark, you can easily check who you are afraid of. Call up an image of the perceived danger - and you will immediately understand whether it is it or not. Imagine that there is a bear or a wolf sitting behind that bush in the dark, looking at you with hungry eyes. Are you afraid of them? No. Definitely not theirs.

The thought of a dangerous animal can, of course, cause fear - for example, when you see the footprints of a wild boar in the forest and are unarmed - but this is a completely different fear. Rational and Conscious. And by the way, during the day this fear arises no weaker than at night. Then maybe you are afraid of the person? Walking through the night forest, imagine that an evil SS man with a "Schmeisser" is hiding behind a distant tree, or more realistic - a hooligan with a knife is waiting for you to rob … Are you afraid of them? No. This is also a completely different fear.

Then perhaps the fear of the dark is abstract at all? Not connected with anything concrete, tangible? Maybe we are afraid of the dark itself - simply because it is such a dark, pre-dark darkness?

Not at all. At night in the forest or indoors, you are afraid of something. Something quite specific - or rather, someone specific. You yourself, I think, are aware of this. Remember your feelings. And yet, remember the moments when an abstract and weak fear in the dark is replaced by a sudden horror - when you are suddenly afraid of some silhouette that appears in the darkness. When you take vague outlines in the dark, which, upon closer examination, turn out to be something commonplace - a tree in the forest, a dressing gown hanging on the wall of the room, and so on and so forth - for something terrible.

And what does this silhouette, usually slightly whitening in the dark, look like? Is he short and squat like a beast preparing to jump? Maybe, on the contrary - it is huge, the size of a tree, like a predatory dinosaur hanging over you?

No. It is always a vertical silhouette, it is a standing figure - and you are afraid of its gaze. You are afraid of someone intelligent, two-legged, standing still - but not a person. If you ever dream of something terrible in the dark, remember at that moment what I am saying, and you will agree with me.

And here's another thing. Have you ever been frightened at night in your own home - someone from your family, whose figure standing in the dark, you took for that very thing?

This happens sometimes when you enter a dark room - where you do not expect to see anyone awake, for example, your wife (or husband) is asleep according to your expectations. And for some reason she / he does not sleep, and you suddenly see a whitening figure in the dark … horror seizes you in a split second before you realize that uh-f! All is well, you were in vain so stupidly scared of your own wife:) Or, you suddenly wake up at night, and out of the corner of your eye you notice that someone is standing motionless by your bed and aaa !!! Horror!.. A second later you are already laughing at yourself, but in fact it lets you go slowly, fear slowly leaves your mind … What frightened you so much in the motionless figure standing in the dark? Well, you're not a coward, are you? If there were even a killer with a pistol in his hand, and even if there were ten terrorists with machine guns at the ready, would you be so scared?

This is rare, and always unexpected, but it happens to everyone. Next time, catch this second of horror. And think, why are you so scared. Substitute mentally those fears that might be based on common sense. A hefty beast from the "cave" past? A modern danger? Robber, bandit, enemy soldier … No? That's not it at all, right? This is the fear of something else.

Let's draw conclusions:

- the horror passed to us from our ancestors, we ourselves have never encountered anything like that in our life.

- for the horror to form so steadily (transmitted at the level of hereditary instinct), the experience of mankind must be very massive and very long (the option is less prolonged, but relatively recent).

- the enemy leads an exclusively nocturnal lifestyle (the option is underground, and comes to the surface only at night), he is afraid of sunlight.

- we are afraid of a humanoid motionless figure.

- from the immobility of the figure it follows, perhaps, that the "immobile figure" is all that the survivors accidentally remembered. Consciously or "genetically" passed on their experience to others. That is, by the time the figure began to move, our ancestors were already dead or unconscious - these no longer survived.

- the horror almost disappears in the group. The enemy is dangerous mainly for individuals. Hypnosis or something similar as a means of influence?

- horror as a reaction means that the ancestors (remember, these are the guys who hunted cave lions for fun) could not do anything against the enemy. Otherwise, horror as a reaction would not have taken hold.
