For a variety of reasons, the name of the inventor and futurologist Nikola Tesla is associated with state secrets, intrigue and almost mystical technological witchcraft. Today, Tesla's work and legacy is surrounded by many conspiracy theories, most of which claim that the US government has confiscated most of Tesla's personal records and diaries, which contain future inventions. It is assumed that this was done for safety reasons, as the technical details of some of Tesla's research projects were indeed potentially dangerous.
To add additional intrigue to the inventor's legacy, biographer Nikola Tesla made some rather unexpected claims about the visionary inventor. In a recently updated edition, biography author Tim R. Schwartz claims that Tesla had a connection with aliens. Schwartz wrote in his book that Tesla was at that moment working on a powerful radio antenna designed to monitor thunderstorms in the Earth's sky. And while testing this device, Tesla overheard radio broadcasts, which, in his opinion, belonged to extraterrestrial intelligence.
“He heard one planet greeting another. From that moment on, he became obsessed with the desire to build the most powerful radio receiver in order to hear it again. His notes contain notes that he actually heard intelligent beings from another planet talking to each other, although he did not know what language they spoke. But he had the feeling that he understood them."
In the description for the new edition, Schwartz claims that the book was written using "sensational data obtained from previously classified personal diaries of the inventor." According to Schwartz, his research is based on eyewitness recollections of Tesla's personal records, which he bought at an auction in 1976 and disappeared twenty years later after the visit of the Men in Black.
Tesla's research coincided with the beginning of America's UFO romance. In the late 1890s, a wave of reports of mysterious "airships" swept across America. Could one of Tesla's inventions cause contact with extraterrestrial beings? Or, more likely, at the dawn of the first flying machines, the imagination ran high among the Americans? Who knows. Since everything connected with Tesla's things is still shrouded in mystery and bizarre hoaxes.
