There is no people in the world that would not keep the memories of this event. Here is what one of the Mayan codes says about the disaster:
“The sky approached the earth, and in one day everything was lost. Even the mountains disappeared under water …"
The sacred book of the Quiche Indians (Guatemala) describes the disaster as follows:
“There was a great flood … People fled in despair and madness. In horror, they tried to climb the roofs of houses that collapsed and threw them to the ground. They tried to climb trees, but the trees threw them down, people looked for salvation in caves and grottoes, and they buried people. The light faded, it rained day and night. Thus, the death of the race of people doomed to destruction was completed."
The Indians of Peru say that, according to their ancient legends, "there was such a strong flood that the sea overflowed its shores, the earth was flooded and all people died … The water rose above the highest mountains."
We can find similar information in the legends and preserved sacred books of all peoples of South, Central and North America.
Alaska Indians recall that during the flood, the few surviving people escaped from the raging waves in a canoe. Wild animals, bears, wolves also tried to get into the boats crowded with people, and they had to be driven away with spears.
We also find reports of the catastrophe among the African peoples.

Thus, flash floods along the shores of both oceans were accompanied by very strong volcanic activity, as well as mountain building.
Mayan legends report that, during the catastrophe, red-hot mountains rose up.
Other myths, also telling that the mountains in this area appeared during the disaster, are confirmed by some findings of scientists.
So, the Mexican explorer García Paiona found two huts in the Cordillera, under a thick layer of ice.
The shell rock surrounding them and the traces of sea activity said that once these huts were on the sea coast.
Now they are at an altitude of 5700 meters, where a person cannot be at all for a long time.
The Greeks described the flood as follows. The king of all gods Zeus decided to destroy the human race because people were godless and prone to violence.
“He had already completely thrown lightning to the ground, but he was afraid that, from such a strong fire, the sacred ether would not ignite and the earth's axis would not burn out.
Zeus remembered the predictions of fate, that the time will come when the sea, earth and the palace of the lord of the sky will be engulfed in fire, when the sky will flare up and the entire skilfully constructed building of the world will collapse.
He then put aside the weapon prepared by the hands of the Cyclops, and chose the opposite kind of punishment, deciding to shed such a rain over the earth that the whole race of mortals drowned in the waves.
And so the king of the gods released from the cave, where he kept the winds, Noth - the south wind, bringing rain. Noth flew out on his wet wings, hiding in the pitch darkness his face that foreshadowed trouble.
Water spilled from his heavy beard and gray hair. Mist covered his forehead, chest and wet wings.
As soon as Noth squeezed the overhanging clouds with his hand, a crackling and crashing began, and the rain, enclosed in the clouds, fell down from the sky like a downpour. The water washed away the crops that the farmer had hoped for and carried them away, ruining all the labors of a long year.
But Zeus was not satisfied with the sky, his own power. His blue brother was with him with his auxiliary army - the waves. Poseidon called the rivers and, when they entered his palace, said to them:
“Now is not the time for long speeches. Surge the banks with all your might. It should be. Open up all your springs and tear down all dams, let your flow free.
That was the order. The rivers left the palace of their king, widened the mouths of their springs and in an irrepressible run rushed to the seas in a continuous stream. Poseidon himself hit the ground with his trident, shook it and with this shake cleared the way for water.
Even the towers disappeared in the stream of water. There is no longer any difference between sea and land. Everywhere was a solid mirror of water, and this mirror had no banks.
People were saved as best they could. Some were looking for higher hills, others got into boats and worked with oars where they had recently plowed, and still others took fish from the tops of elms …"
As you can see, apparently only earthquakes have reached this area ("Poseidon hit the ground with his trident, shook it"), and although the water flooded everything, it did not flood the high hills and did not rise above the treetops.
There is a story about the flood in the Bible, which borrowed the message about it from an older source. Babylonian clay tablets dating back to the XXXIV century BC also tell of this catastrophe.
In the sacred book of the Persians "Zend-Ovest", it is said that, during the flood, "throughout the earth, water stood at the height of human growth …"
And in the easternmost region of Asia, in China, some myths claim that during this catastrophe that befell the land, the waters of the sea not only did not flood the land, as it was in America, Africa and Europe, but, on the contrary, retreated far from coast to the southeast.
It is clear that if in one region of the globe there was a huge tidal wave, and the waters even reached mountain peaks, then there should have been an ebb tide on the opposite side of it.
This is also confirmed by how gradually, as we moved eastward, the height of the water cover decreased: in Central America, the water rose to the tops of the highest mountains, in Greece - no higher than hills and treetops, and in Persia - only to the height of human growth.
"The sky began to fall to the north"
The description of the disaster is accompanied by one strange, at first glance, detail.
There are a number of reports that, after the disaster, the appearance of some constellations has changed. In particular, the path of Venus has changed.
In the 17th century, the Jesuit missionary Martin Martinus visited China. He spent several years there, learned the language, and when he returned, wrote the detailed History of China.
Here is how he describes, according to the ancient Chinese chronicles, what happened during the flood:
“… The pillar of the sky collapsed, the earth was shaken to its very foundations. The sky began to fall to the north. The sun, moon and stars have changed the way they move. The entire system of the universe was in disarray. The sun was in an eclipse and the planets changed their paths."
About the same, about the changed view of the sky, wrote "one of the most wise Romans" - the historian M. Terentius Varro, who used some ancient source.
"The star Venus," he wrote, "has changed its color, size, shape, appearance and movement, which has never happened before or after that."
The ancient Jews believed that the flood "happened because the Lord God changed the places of two stars in the constellation."
In ancient Mexico, there was even a holiday dedicated to the fact that the constellations, after the catastrophe, took a different form.
Particularly noted was the change in the path of motion of Venus, which, as one of the Mayan codes said, “brought death to the world” …
It is natural to assume that the change in the apparent path of motion of Venus could be the result of a change in the point of observation, that is, under the influence of some cosmic body of large mass, the Earth, obviously, left its previous orbit.
If this really happened, then we must have evidence that, before the catastrophe, the time of the Earth's revolution around its axis and around the Sun was different. And there is such evidence.
Many holy books contain information about the strange longevity of the ancients. Here is what the Bible writes: “Seth lived 105 years and begat Enos. All the days of Sifov were 912 years old. Enos lived for 90 years and gave birth to Cain. All in all, Enos's days were 905 years old, and he died. Methuselah lived the longest, he lived for 969 years. " Hence the expression "Methuselah age".
Of course, one could say that all these are fairy tales and inventions. This would be the easiest thing to do.
But, folk wisdom says that there is no smoke without fire. Information about longevity, which contains the Bible, is not isolated.
When archaeologists were excavating in the countries of the Middle East, they found texts carved in stone or written in cuneiform on clay tablets about the deeds of the Chaldean kings who lived before the disaster. Many of these inscriptions were compiled during his lifetime, and some - immediately after the death of the king.
The Arabs talk about their ancestor Shedd Ad-Ben-Ad, who lived before the flood. He lived for several centuries. Until now, the Arabs say: "Old as Hell."
There are also legends about the longevity of people before the catastrophe in America. The Indians of Guatemala trace their origin from a certain At-tit, who lived, according to legend, for four hundred years.
In different centuries, scientists and historians have tried to explain these legends about longevity in different ways. So, Josephus Flavius believed that the reason for a long life was the food that people ate before the flood.
Perhaps the reason is something else entirely?
Maybe a different period of time was once considered a year?
Indeed, if the Earth changed its orbit, then it should pass a new path around the Sun in a different time than before, and the duration of the Earth's year was not always 365 days. This is evidenced by the finds in the prehistoric city of Tiahunaku in the Andes.
This city, or rather its ruins, is located in the Andes at an altitude of 4000 meters. Anyone who has been in the mountains knows that at such a height a person even breathes with difficulty, and it is almost impossible to live there. Why would people start building their city so high in the mountains?
But it turns out that Tiahunaku was not always at an altitude of 4000 meters. Traces of a large port, remains of shell rock and marine sediments suggest that this city was once no higher than sea level.
In the ruins of Tiahunaku, among the numerous symbolic images, a strange calendar was found. It has only recently been decrypted.
The heads of pumas carved on the stone marked the night (the puma goes hunting only at night); heads of condors - days (the condor flies during the day).
Special signs symbolized the Sun, Moon and other celestial bodies. But it is especially important that, according to the calendar found in Tiahunaku, the year was only 290 days!
Perhaps this was the time of the Earth's revolution around the Sun before our planet was dragged into its present orbit.
Many ancient legends, religions and philosophical teachings argued that the worldwide catastrophe that we talked about was not the first on our earth.
If so, then another fact becomes clear. The fact is that the Maya, in addition to the usual calendar, strictly verified and even turned out to be more accurate than the one we use, had another calendar.
It was the so-called "sacred calendar", the origin of which is still unknown.
The year of the sacred calendar consisted of 260 days. It can be assumed that it belongs to an even earlier period.
Thus, after each of the catastrophes, the time of the Earth's movement around the Sun, obviously, lengthened. We have the right to conclude that the period of rotation of the Earth around its axis also slowed down significantly.
Therefore, if the year was 70-100 days less than ours, and every day, moreover, is much shorter, then information about the long life of the ancients is not so implausible.
