The theory according to which the American program for the conquest of Mars is an imitation akin to the notorious "lunar scam" is becoming more and more popular not only in ufological, but also in scientific circles.
Under this theory, such researchers as, for example, the German Gerhard Wisniewski, sum up the financial base: to spend - even for 51 years (starting from 1964) - 120 billion dollars on the "Martian adventure" is at least wasteful.
Therefore, they say, NASA and decided to fool the world man in the street once again. How reasonable is this conspiracy theory? Let's figure it out. And we will immediately point out one sensational circumstance: none of the specialists who doubt that the "Martian program" of the United States is real, does not indicate the place where it is actually being implemented. The question is why?

Before me is the latest research by Richard Hall, a former Rolls-Royce automotive engineer. Hall starts with the basics: he explains why NASA made a secret decision to simulate space probe flights to Mars - of the previous 44 missions, five were canceled due to defects in technology discovered at an early stage, four probes missed their target, seven were injured as a result of catastrophes, and only six probes from eleven supposedly reached the orbit of Mars still landed on the Red Planet.

However, Hall recalls, the media has hammered information about 44 "successful" Martian missions into the head of the American taxpayer. Otherwise, the public would be outraged that $ 120 billion - including $ 2.5 billion spent on the new Martian robots Opportunity and Curiosity - were invested in such an ineffective program.
Nevertheless, even creating "rovers", originally intended for use on Earth and nowhere else, the simulators from the US Aerospace Agency, in the opinion of the engineer, "saved, considering the entire world community for some simpleton." As proof: the same Curiosity, which continues to pamper us with pictures (about them later), allegedly "transmitted from Mars", is equipped with a lithium-ion battery "capacity" of 140 (!) Watt.
Any owner of a modern mobile phone will tell you how quickly such batteries drain, as soon as the temperature of the environment drops below zero. The researcher made calculations and points out: when NASA claims that the batteries with which the "rovers" are equipped operate without failures for 10 or more years in the conditions of Mars (where the average annual temperature is minus 55 degrees Celsius), it simply deceives us.
And what's more: the ill-fated 140 watts is not enough even in the greenhouse conditions of the Earth to power (often simultaneously) 39 motors of a "Mars rover" like Curiosity. Dozens of motors needed by the robot in order, for example, to control cameras that are taking pictures, move, maneuver, drill rocks.
The American engineer cites dozens of similar facts on 55 pages of his latest research, indicating that the "rovers" never left - and could not leave - the limits of the Earth. But we will not dwell on the above information. And let's turn to another.
According to the precepts of cousin Benedict
Fans of Jules Verne will surely remember the episode from the book "Fifteen Years Captain", when entomologist cousin Benedict finds an insect that is not found in America. The scientist screams with joy, believing that he has made a discovery, and explains to his companions: such insects are characteristic of Africa, but no one has ever found them in America before. The pirates leading the entomologist and the entire crew of the ship full of slavers are not happy. In fact, the scientist, without knowing it himself, exposed the plans of the villains who passed off the Black Continent for America.
Now attention: already in our century this story repeated itself like a farce … Before me is the study of the American Charles Schultz. It's called The Martian Fossil Guide. The scientist, having conscientiously analyzed hundreds of photographs allegedly transmitted by "Mars rovers" from the Red Planet, is full of enthusiasm: "The Viking, Pathfinder, MER, Phoenix spacecraft have provided us with dozens of evidences that there is, or, at least, there was life on Mars!"
Indeed, on 400 pages of his work, Schultz cites dozens of sensational photographs taken from the official NASA website. Here's a lemming, apparently drinking water. But the shin of the animal - here the scientist makes fun of the ufologists, who take it for a part of the body of an alien - apparently, the shin of a walrus. But, finally, absolutely according to the precepts of cousin Benedict, and the wing of some insect. Against this background, the lichen growing on Mars is sheer nonsense.
NASA employees did not like Schultz's "discoveries" as much as Benedict's "discoveries", the pirate captain Pereira. Moreover, Schultz immediately found numerous followers. For example, the American ufologist Scott Waring, who first drew attention to the strangeness of the "Martian photograph" allegedly taken by Curiosity back in 2012 (now it is on the NASA website).
Let's take a closer look: the photo clearly shows the shadow of a person performing some manipulations over the robot. As soon as Waring's discovery became public, some hotheads immediately put forward a version according to which the United States already has "secret populated bases" on Mars. However, now we will disappoint them. As, however, and those who saw in the sensational photograph … "a Martian dressed in a spacesuit."
Looking not there
The public, which inundates NASA with letters asking to explain the earthly background of the photographs allegedly transmitted by Martian missions from the Red Planet, is almost always skillfully put to shame by representatives of the aerospace department.
And that's why. Enthusiasts are looking for sites for filming, where, they say, the Martian landscapes are imitated, in the deserts of Nevada and Arizona, the sands of California. To which the creators of the Martian program quite logically respond: “Are the remains of walruses, lemmings, lichens in the desert? Sorry, this is complete nonsense!"
Well, that's the way it is. For the real set on which Mars is imitated (and the corresponding photos) is located in the Canadian Arctic - on the largest uninhabited island in the world, called Devon. All flora and fauna, so unsuccessfully falling into the lenses of Curiosity and Opportunity, is just characteristic of the conditions of the local tundra.
And what's more: the landscapes of Devon, on which, apparently, the "space Hollywood" is located, are ideal for turning into Martian landscapes. You overlay a little red color in the same Photoshop program on the pictures taken in Devon, and here you are, Mars!
Official information on the connection between Devon and Mars: In July 2004, five scientists and two journalists temporarily settled on the island of Devon, who simulated the conditions of life and work on the planet Mars. In addition, NASA ran a program to study geology, hydrology, botany and microbiology in Devon. Today in Dundas Harbor only the remains of a few buildings have survived.
As for the mysterious man "on Mars", performing some manipulations on the "Mars rover" Curiosity, then he fits perfectly into this version. First, as the already cited engineer Richard Hall rightly points out, the solar batteries charging the weak battery of the "rover" would have to be periodically cleaned - whether on the Red Planet or on Earth.

Actually, this is what the mysterious "Martian" is doing. It is enclosed in quotation marks for the following reason: having kindly responded to the request of the author of these lines, German specialists in the field of multidimensional object modeling studied the sensational photography and came to the conclusion that behind the name of the river is the CamelBak mobile drinking system.
Moreover, in its rather rare modification - Thermobag, according to the principle of a thermos, keeps drinks warm for long hours. Using such a system in a desert environment is absurd. But it is perfectly suited to work in the vastness of the Arctic. Thus, the "Martian's spacesuit" is another argument in favor of the fact that "Mars" has been inhabited for a long time … on the vast expanses of Devon Island.
As the hero of an old Soviet film used to say: "Is there life on Mars, is there life on Mars - science does not know." And if we follow the logic of the above facts, then it is unlikely that humanity has come close to solving the mysteries of the Red Planet since the distant 1964, when the American aerospace department undertook its first "mission to Mars".
