Engineers at Stanford University have created a robot called Hal, born to suffer. A device that can bleed, cry, depict a stroke and anaphylactic shock will help medical students learn to provide first aid more effectively. WIRED writes about it.
Over the years, medical students have been forced to train their emergency skills on lifeless dummies. The American company Gaumard Scientific, founded by scientists from Stanford University, has been solving this problem since the 40s of the last century. The firm began with the creation of synthetic skeletons and anatomical figures, and recently released the Victoria robot, which gives birth to a robot child, and Super Tory.
Another peak for Gaumard Scientific is the Hal robot. Its pupils react to light, it can be connected to a dropper or even resuscitated with a defibrillator. According to the developers of the device, the hyperrealistic robot will help students better understand how to provide emergency assistance to the patient and get used to his reactions.
Hal will go on sale in the fall of 2018 and will cost $ 48,000.
