Alternating current
For what we should be truly grateful to Nikola Tesla, it is for the popularization of alternating current. By the way, it was not so easy. The first employer, and later Tesla's rival Edison (he promoted direct current) actively interfered with Tesla. He did it in a very original way. Thomas paid schoolchildren 25 cents per head for live cats and dogs. He then publicly passed an electric current from Nikola Tesla's apparatus through these animals. His goal was to publicly convince the public that alternating current is too dangerous for home use. As we know, Tesla won in this dispute. But I feel sorry for the animals.
Death ray
The Death Ray is perhaps the most famous invention of the genius Serb. Tesla invented a beam emitter of charged particles after studying the van de Graaff generator. To implement his developments, Tesla needed money, but he did not want to sell the invention into the hands of one state, reasonably believing that this could forever change the balance of power on Earth. The inventor sent proposals all over the world to design "super-weapons", supposed to establish a balance of power between different countries and thus prevent the onset of World War II. The addressees list included the governments of the USA, Canada, England, France, the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia.
In the USSR, Tesla's discovery was seriously interested. In 1937, Tesla negotiated with Amtorg, which represented the interests of the USSR in the United States, and gave her some plans for a vacuum chamber for his death rays. Two years later, Tesla received a check from the USSR for $ 25,000. The Second World War confused the cards, and Tesla's tower was destroyed by the Americans themselves. It was believed that it could be used by the Nazis. But the world has not forgotten about Tesla's development. They were used in the Star Wars program (American Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI).

X-ray
In 1887 Nikola Tesla began researching X-rays and reproduced bremsstrahlung for the first time. Tesla showed his humanism this time too. He discovered that x-rays could be harmful to health and refused to test on humans. He refused, but the already memorable Thomas Edison did not. Edison boldly began to conduct experiments on humans. The first American to die from exposure to radiation, Clares Dalli, was an employee of Edison. Dally had to have his arms amputated, but he soon died of cancer. Edison himself was nearly blinded by X-rays. A typical story for Tesla's life: he makes a discovery, but, seeing its negative potential, stops development.
Technology of the future
The fact that Tesla was a genius is not even discussed today. Without his inventions, we would not have electricity, fluorescent lamps, wireless communications, vertical takeoff aircraft, hovercraft … He predicted that soon the world would be filled with smart machines, robots, various sensors and autonomous systems.
Tesla invented the first radio-controlled model. During the demonstration of the boat in one of the parks, he caused some people to panic. His invention then seemed like a miracle, but now it is believed that Tesla stood at the foundations of robotics. In 1931, Tesla showed the public a mysterious car. The gasoline engine was removed from the luxury limousine and the electric motor was installed. Then Tesla, in front of the public, placed a nondescript box under the hood, from which two rods were sticking out, and connected it to the engine. Saying, "Now we have energy," Tesla got behind the wheel and drove off. The car was tested for a week. She developed a speed of up to 150 km / h and, it seems, did not need to be recharged at all. Everyone asked Tesla: "Where does the energy come from?" He replied: "From the air." The mystery of that box has not yet been solved, but the first serious electric car, released recently,not accidentally named after the great scientist.
Tunguska meteorite
In June 1900, upon his return to New York, Tesla prepares the world's first wireless power transmission system - the Wardencliffe Tower, which he is testing with great success three years later. On the night of July 15, 1903, with his experiment, Tesla lit the sky not only over New York, but also over the Atlantic Ocean. In 1905, Tesla suddenly leaves his laboratory, without a clear reason, leaving everything in it intact. As you know, he never crossed the Wardencliff threshold again. Recently, there have been suggestions that Tesla was the one who in 1908 caused a strong and strange explosion in Siberia in the Podkamennaya Tunguska region. It was believed that this explosion could have caused a meteorite, but so far not the slightest fragment of it has been found. It is also truethat the Wardencliff Tower at that time was technically sound, and Tesla, passing energy through the Earth, could accumulate and simultaneously discharge a huge amount of energy anywhere on the planet. This completely coincided with the results of his long-term work on studying the properties of the Earth as a medium for the propagation of electromagnetic waves.
New York earthquake
Tesla's genius was of a special nature. The inventor always wanted good, but created devices that could destroy humanity. So, studying the resonant vibrations of the Earth, the inventor created a device that actually provokes earthquakes. Tesla was working, when suddenly the tables and cabinets in the laboratory began to shake, the glass in the windows rang … Passers-by on the streets heard a strange hum. Tesla was an eccentric person. Both his fans and his opponents recognized this. He made a demonic impression on people. His "tricks" in superstitious people caused fear. His whole life was "sharpened" for the service of science. In principle, he remained a bachelor until the end of his life, reasonably believing that marriage could interfere with immersion in science. Tesla seemed strange to those around him. During a walk, he could, for no reason at all, make a somersault on the spot, often walked, talking to himself. Tesla spoke eight languages fluently, was active in sports, wrote poetry, and went through an addiction to gambling, smoking and coffee. In his later years, the inventor became a vegetarian. In an article for Century Illustrated Magazine, he wrote: “It is undoubtedly much wiser to grow vegetables. I think that vegetarianism is a decent way to get rid of barbaric habits. "Tesla argued that it was economically unprofitable to consume meat when large numbers of people were starving. He was convinced that "plant foods are superior to meat in terms of impact on physical and mental abilities." He also argued that the slaughter of animals is "unjustified cruelty."
