Despite the abundance of information about ghosts, psychics, flying saucers and other phenomena from the "unknown" sphere, few are ready to openly admit that they believe in at least some of them.
As soon as a person tells about a mystical story that has happened to him, he is ridiculed, twisted a finger to his temple, or they begin to convince him of a purely materialistic background of what happened … Why are we so afraid of the "supernatural" and ignore it?
Perhaps we should start with the fact that people most often misunderstand the meaning of the words "mystic", "supernatural", "otherworldly", "unknown". We are not talking about some fictional world, but about a set of phenomena that still remain inexplicable for humanity. And that's why we treat them with distrust.
The laws of science are pretty clear cut. So, the result is known in advance, which is obtained when different parameters coincide. But we don't know how, for example, ghosts are made. They arise spontaneously and far from when you specifically expect them.
The main property of phenomena from the field of parapsychology and related spheres is their irreproducibility. That is, if such a phenomenon took place once, this does not mean that it will happen again, even if the time, place and other components are similar. In fact, it can, but not necessarily happen. By the way, our classification of anomalous and mystical phenomena may misjudge their nature. So, if we take the phenomenon of ghosts, then some eyewitnesses tell about phantoms similar to real people, others about blurry figures, and still others about incomprehensible light bunches …
And where did we get the idea that these are phenomena of the same order? We can assume that in some cases the ghosts are a figment of our imagination, in others they are really souls of people from the other world, and in the third - manifestations of some kind of radiation …
If we take another common phenomenon from the otherworldly field - poltergeist, then everything is still less unambiguous. Investigations of such episodes show that in most cases physical factors such as ventilation problems, acoustic and optical effects, communication problems, the proximity of various objects such as the railroad and, finally, natural phenomena lead to extraneous noise, movement of objects, leaks and fires.

Sometimes the authors of the "poltergeist" are naughty children or hoaxers (each has its own reasons for doing this). And only about one percent of the cases do not find any explanation. But this does not mean that brownies or other entities from the "subtle" world are involved here.

From time immemorial, people believed in omens. And nowadays, no matter how intelligent and educated a person is, it is unlikely that his heart will not flutter if a black cat crosses the road …
Psychologists talk about the so-called "magical thinking". It was common for our ancestors to deify the world around them, inhabiting it in their imagination with various spirits. The latter could send, say, good luck on the hunt or fertility, or they could be severely punished by diseases, accidents, or poor harvests … It was believed that the spirits are angry with someone who does not follow their laws. In addition, supernatural forces could warn of both impending disaster and upcoming pleasant events.
This is how beliefs arose about a black cat promising trouble, that a cat washing up "washes up" guests, that it is impossible to whistle in the house or sweep garbage outside the threshold - there will be no money … At first glance, there is no direct connection between these things … But still, few people would risk angering fate once again. But in a conversation with outsiders, we will assure that we do not believe in mysticism.
Because these phenomena either exist or they do not exist … Nothing can be proved! And even if something mystical does happen, we will first of all try to explain it from the standpoint of common sense - “just imagined,” “dreamed,” “coincidence,” etc.
Let me tell you a secret: in fact, there is no mysticism! That is, it exists, but only in our own heads. There is a world in all its diversity, just not all the things that are present in it, and not all of its laws are clear and understandable to us. Or maybe a person is not able to realize the structure of the universe "in detail". Hence the belief in mysticism, and its downside - skepticism. However, it's up to you how to feel about it.
