In the German state of Saxony-Anhalt, twenty kilometers northwest of Naumburg, lies the town of Nebra. In the late 1990s. in its vicinity, inside the ring-shaped rampart crowning the forested summit of Mount Mittelberg, in a shallow hole carved into rocky soil and then covered with earth, grave robbers accidentally found a treasure of very ancient objects. Scientists have estimated the age of the find at 18,000 years. It consisted of two swords and several bracelets of the Bronze Check era, as well as an amazing piece of unknown purpose, which will be discussed below. It is a bronze disc 32 cm in diameter and about 2 mm thick with images of the Moon, Sun and stars. Along the edges of the disk, on opposite sides of it, there were two arcuate stripes, one of which is lost, and under the Sun and Moon, at the edge of the disk, there is a crescent stripe, probably symbolizing the Solar Rook. All the above-mentioned elements of the firmament are laid on, made of gold.

Before the Star Drive got to scientists, it experienced a real crime odyssey. The robbers who found the treasure wanted to sell it, first of all, of course, the precious disk, but the task turned out to be difficult, since, according to the laws of Germany, such a find is the property of the state. The criminal owners of the find replaced each other, until in 2001 the authorities attacked their trail and sent a “buyer” to them. The negotiations were interrupted in the most unexpected way for the sellers, and the precious object came under state protection.

First of all, it was necessary to make sure of the authenticity of the Stellar disk, that is, of its antiquity. However, this can be difficult at times. The radiocarbon dating method (C14 carbon isotope) used for organic residues was not suitable in this case. The presence of patina on the surface of the disc - an oxide film that stained - helped! bronze in bright green. True, the patina can form both under the influence of the natural environment and as a result of special processing. But in the latter case, for its creation, chemicals are needed, traces of which are easy to detect when analyzing artificial turf. There were no such substances in the patina covering the disc. And since he was found with swords and? bracelets, whose age is about 18,000 years, scientists have established with a sufficient degree of reliability, and the robbers told about the circumstances of the discovery of the treasure in all the details, the antiquity of its constituent objects can be considered proven.

Moreover, it is possible that this (or similar) Star Disc was known and revered in ancient times. The eighteenth song of Homer's poem "Iliad" describes in detail the shield of Achilles, made by Hephaestus, according to scientists, in the image and likeness of the find with Mittelberg. Here is his description translated by N. I. Gnedich:

The shield made up of five sheets and on a vast circle

God made a lot of wonderful things according to his creative designs

There he represented the land, represented both the sky and the sea

The sun, on the road, a raging, full silver month

Promotional video:

All the beautiful stars with which the sky is crowned:

Visible in their host are the Pleiades, Hyades and the power of Orion, Arktos, still calling the chariot by the sons of the earth

There he always turns, always watches over Orion

And the only one avoids washing in the ocean waves

Excavations have shown: around 1260 BC. Troy experienced a long siege and was destroyed, which, in principle, confirms the information of the Greek legends about the Trojan War and related historical events.

But what is the "applied" purpose of the disk and the heavenly map depicted on it? 25 kilometers southeast of Nebra, near the village of Gosek in the Weissenfels district, archaeologists unearthed a prehistoric observatory with a diameter of 75 m. It was established that it was built more than 7000 years ago, that is, it is the oldest astronomical observatory known to date, which is older than Stonehenge and all the famous buildings of Egypt, as well as other highly developed ancient civilizations!

According to researchers, there is an undeniable connection between the Nebra Star Disc and the observatory near Gosek. Professor Wolfgard Schlosser of Bochum University investigated the Star Disc from an astronomical point of view. He is convinced: the Goth, who created it, deliberately designated only the position of seven stars from the Pleiades, and placed the rest without any system, that-; would just show the starry sky. The image of the Pleiades, along with the Sun and the Moon, has a deep meaning.

Why did the Pleiades play such an important role in the life of ancient peoples?

The ancient poet Hesiod, who lived at the turn of the VIII-VII centuries. BC, wrote that according to the position in the firmament of the constellation of the Pleiades, farmers determine the moments of the beginning of the main stages of their work - plowing, sowing, harvesting.

However, back to the contents of the Stellar disk.

As already mentioned, on its edges opposite each other there were golden arcs, one of which has been preserved.

If you build a sector on it, then the angle between the radii forming it will be 82.5 °. But just such an angle is formed by the radii drawn through the middle of the two entrances inside the Gosek observatory! And they are oriented exactly to the southeast and southwest. These inputs define the horizontal longitude in the celestial coordinate system and therefore the points of sunrise and sunset on the winter solstice for a given location. There is also a third entrance to the observatory, but the meaning of its location is still unclear. Now the meaning of the arcs on the Star Disk becomes clear: they mark the horizon line and determine the location of the entrances (they are also observation points) in the Gosek observatory.

But that's not all. Researchers have identified the connection between the geometry of the disk and geography, so to speak, on a global scale.

The island of Delos lies almost two thousand kilometers southeast of Gosek in the Aegean Sea. The island has Mount Kintos, on the top of which archaeologists have discovered the same observatory as in Gosek. During the time of Ancient Greece, Delos was a major religious center with the majestic temple of Apollo. The Greek historian and geographer Diodorus wrote about Hyperborea, a country lying far on the northern edge of the world. Its inhabitants, the Hyperboreans, enjoyed the special love of Apollo, who flew to them for the winter. Hyperborea was famous for the soothsayers who founded many temples and oracles of Apollo. The most famous of the Hyperboreans was Abaris, the soothsayer and priest of Apollo. He could do without food and flew on a magic arrow given to him by this god. Researchers who do not consider Hyperborea to be pure fiction suggest that it could have been in Iceland or Greenland, where in the distant past the climate was much milder.

So, if you draw a straight line from the center of the observatory in Gosek through the southeastern entrance and continue it, it will lead to the temple of Apollo in Delos! A straight line, drawn through the south-western entrance and extended by the same distance as the first, will reach the Sierra Nevada mountain range in southern Spain, the highest on the Iberian Peninsula. Whether there was a sanctuary and an observatory there in prehistoric times, future research will show, but the place seems to be very suitable for them.

If we continue the straight line connecting Delos and Tosek, nor northwest, then it will reach the legendary sacred Cape Reykjanes in Iceland, where the first Vikings once landed, and, being extended even further, will lead to Greenland …

The Nebra Star Disc is now in the Primitive History Museum in Galle, and its scientific research continues.
