The reason for such a commotion was the evidence that the cemetery became a haven for vampires and evil spirits that opened the hunt for people.
Highgate Cemetery began its work during the reign of Queen Victoria. It is noteworthy that only wealthy people were buried there, because a piece of land here cost a lot of money. Therefore, only the elite of society was buried here. For example, here is the grave of Karl Marx and many aristocrats.
Now there are guided tours around the cemetery, because each grave is a real work of Gothic art. But the cemetery became popular not only because of the unique in its architecture tombstones and crypts, but because of the history of vampires, which frightened a good part of Londoners in the 1970s.
A couple of years before the story of the expulsion of the vampire, two girls who walked past the cemetery were very frightened that they saw disembodied entities wandering between the graves. One of these girls later said that she had nightmares and that some entity was trying to infiltrate her house. After a while, several more people said that they saw someone watching them through the cemetery gates.

In his opinion, the cemetery contains the burial place of the real king of vampires, who was brought in a coffin from Romania in the 19th century. Local Satanists who performed a ceremony at the cemetery awakened him and his minions. He decided that he only needed to find an ominous burial and chop off the vampire's head or pierce it with an aspen stake. In the newspaper, Manchester announced that he was gathering an army of townspeople to fight the vampire. He himself figured out the crypt where, in his opinion, the vampire slept.
On Friday, March 13, 1970, at night, a large crowd gathered at the gates of Highgate Cemetery. Hundreds of people in search of the supernatural stormed the gates of the cemetery. The impromptu rally was quickly dispersed by the police, but some people claimed they had seen the vampire with their own eyes. The organizer of the rally broke through the police cordon and disappeared into the thickets of the cemetery. He found the crypt pretty quickly.
