In 1974, in the Sinis region, Sardinia, a farmer's plow came across a huge piece of stone. The man decided to examine what prevents him from working. Imagine his surprise when, instead of a simple stone, he pulled a huge head out of the ground. Thus began a series of archaeological excavations in the Monte Prama area, near the village of Cabras.

A group of archaeologists arrived at the site where the stone head was found and discovered an impressive complex of burials. Slabs of stone covered most of the tombs, over which large statues once stood. Presumably, these structures date back to the 9th century BC. and belong to the families of local aristocrats.

The statues that were discovered were wars, more than two meters high. Some of them froze, holding large shields over their heads. The quiver-armed archers seemed ready to attack, decorated arrows in their left hand. And the warriors in helmets with frightening horns were armed with heavy swords.

Excavations continued until the end of 1979.

All finds (over 5,000 fragments) were exhibited in the Cagliari Museum.

Thirty years later, numerous artifacts were transferred to the center of Li Punti, where a laboratory was set up to study and restore the statues in detail. And only in 2014, the giants were able to return to their place.

The giants discovered in Monte Prama are unique in both appearance and age. The fact is that until the discovery of the graves in Monte Pram, there was no evidence of Greek and Etruscan sculpture of the early 7th century BC.
