From September 20 to January 6 in Prague, you can see the Codex gigas - the world's largest manuscript, considered the eighth wonder of the world and otherwise called the "Bible of the Devil"

The 624-page manuscript weighs 75 kilograms, its wooden covers measure 92x50 cm, and 160 donkey skins were used to make the book. The Bible was created at the turn of the XII-XIII centuries by a monk from a monastery in central Bohemia. According to legend, the devil helped the monk in writing the book, which is why the manuscript got its name. It contains the Old and New Testaments, the so-called "Mirror of the Sinner" (a collection of edifying and entertaining stories-examples for preachers), a list of the Cosmic Chronicle, various forms of conspiracies and a calendar with a synodic (indicating the days of the saints). This manuscript became a trophy of the soldiers of the Swedish army, who took it away from Prague three hundred and fifty years ago.

The exhibition is housed in the famous Clementium - once the monastery of St. Clementius, and now - the library of Charles University. The value of the book is so great that by the beginning of the exhibition Clementium was equipped with a new security alarm. Due to the enormous interest shown in the exhibition, the National Library will sell special hourly tickets. So Clementinum's employees want to regulate the flow of people who want to watch it. The fact is that a special microclimate is maintained in the hall where the book will be displayed, and only 60 people can be allowed in there per hour.
