Could the universe be composed of antimatter?

A group of physicists conducted a study and came to the conclusion that our universe may have a "twin", where time flows backwards. Of course, this is still pure theory, but it answers some important questions that science has been struggling with for a long time. One of them sounds like this: if during the Big Bang the Universe was obtained from equal parts of matter and antimatter, then where is all the antimatter?

The English theoretical physicist Paul Dirac first suggested the existence of antimatter in 1928. After that, scientists found a wide range of antiparticles. They occur during high-energy collisions in other parts of the universe, as well as during the operation of particle accelerators. The most famous such accelerator is the Large Hadron Collider, built near Geneva by the European Council for Nuclear Research.

In 1964, an experiment took place that brought its authors the Nobel Prize 16 years later. Americans James Cronin and Val Fitch allegedly proved that the Universe consisting of antimatter cannot exist for the simple reason that a weak nuclear force violates this model. And for several decades this was perceived as a fact. Nevertheless, in 2004, American cosmologist Sean Carroll and his graduate student Jennifer Chen decided to revise the theory of the "mirror" universe, answering the burning question of natural science: does time only flow in one direction?

In the course of their research, Carroll and Chen created a complex Big Bang model that "shoots" simultaneously in two opposite directions. Thus, two universes are created. One of them, ours, is made of matter, and the other is made up of antimatter. While in one universe time moves forward, in the second it flows backward. However, for the inhabitants of the other, the Universe, our time, as you might guess, is tantamount to moving backward.

In general, when we talk about time, we are considering the second law of thermodynamics, especially entropy. It is about the amount of disorder in the system that ultimately incapacitates it. Such a system can be any mechanism, computer, star, or human body. Entropy grows exponentially until sooner or later it absorbs the entire system. However, instead of entropy, Carroll and Chen decided to focus their attention on gravity.

By examining a thousand particles and applying Newtonian physics, scientists were able to prove that the existence of a double universe is hypothetically possible. Their model even takes into account weak nuclear power. Now another group of researchers decided to delve into this issue more thoroughly. This team consists of Briton Julian Barbour, as well as Canadians Tim Kozlowski and Flavio Mercati. They studied a similar autonomous system of thousands of particles, basing their research more on gravity than thermodynamics.

The model showed gravity expanding in two directions. Scientists have named it the Janus Point after the two-faced god from ancient Roman mythology. So, in our Universe, entropy is that time moves forward. In physics, this is called the time axis. Experts report that if time is viewed as a natural phenomenon, and not as a given force, then it can simultaneously flow in two opposite directions. As a result, creatures from a parallel universe are probably very similar to us, but the difference in the direction of the passage of time makes their existence radically different from ours.

Is it possible to look into a parallel universe?

Unfortunately, even if such a parallel universe exists, we are unlikely to ever be able to look into it, as well as its inhabitants - to us. The two realities flow from a central point and cannot interact with each other in any way. That is, it is impossible to cross the Janus Point, since it would contradict the fundamental laws of physics.
