In an interview with the correspondent of Sputnik Moldova, a well-known scientist who has worked in Moldova for a long time spoke about treasures, treasure hunters and the cultural and historical heritage of Moldova.

- Many of the most interesting historical periods in the history of Moldova are presented in the scientific literature and textbooks undeservedly modestly. Which of them, in your opinion, should be given more attention?

- Currently, archaeologists of Moldova have highlighted many little-studied periods of the history of the region. Barrow archeology, the study of the ancient stone (Paleolithic) copper-stone (Eneolithic) century and a number of medieval monuments reached particular development. However, there are still "blank spots" on the archaeological map of the country.

For example, the cultural monuments of Gumelnitsa, known in the south in Poprutye, are practically forgotten, the settlements of Slavic culture, well known in Moldova, are almost not explored. I am also sure that the land of the Prut-Dniester interfluve contains a lot of unknown monuments, which in due time will become a real sensation in the scientific world.

- There is a belief that looking for ancient treasures is dangerous for the life of treasure hunters. Is it true?

- I am extremely far from mysticism, but over the years of scientific work I have come across some phenomena that I began to think about. Today I have no doubt that treasures and ancient gold are fraught with great danger. What it consists of is extremely difficult to explain. One can only pay attention to some of the circumstances constantly accompanying these findings. I think that they debunk many stereotypes in which the army of treasure hunters firmly believes.

About golden carriages and jeweled chests

Promotional video:

Firstly, no one has ever found such treasures such as cauldrons and barrels of gold, gold carriages and boats, chests filled with jewels. They simply do not exist, despite the numerous and colorful legends and legends! Second. The folklore of search engines says: "To find a treasure, you need to know exactly where it is buried." No matter how ridiculous it sounds, it is true. Only a simple analysis of the facts convinces that the vast majority of them are found by random people, and not by professional seekers.

Of course, sometimes luck accompanies them, but it is not comparable with the total number of discovered values: over 90 percent of ancient treasures are discovered by chance - during plowing and laying of roads, construction work and uprooting, demolishing dilapidated houses and laying communications, and so on. Even the treasures discovered during scientific archaeological research are often found by accident.

There is another pattern: not every person is able to find a treasure. Vladimir Dahl has the following entry: “The treasure is not given to everyone at all; the owner of the treasure, after his death, wanders quietly around and protects it strictly and sensitively: either you will not find it at all, or you will find it, but you will not take it, it will not be in your hands. It turns out that this truth has long been known among the people!

Mystic or regularity?

Another pattern is objectively traced: treasures are often found by people who are looking for something completely different, for example, mushrooms, worms for fishing, old bricks or boards for construction, and so on. In addition, not a single case is known when a treasure would make its finder happy. Until recently, quite a few people voluntarily donated accidentally found treasures, receiving money from the state for this. But money is not happiness! Today, such cases are the exception rather than the rule. A simple acquaintance with the stories of treasure hunters convinces that almost always the treasures brought some problems and never fulfilled his dreams of a rich life for his own pleasure.

There are a lot of cases when, after a while, grave robbers and their close relatives died or fell ill with cancer, they had sick children, and their personal life did not go well. Some of them gradually find themselves in their own virtual world, where the main thing is treasure hunt. Like their predecessors, they often forget about family, friends and work, and spend time and money on their "hobby" with obsessive tenacity. And most often to no avail!

Prophecies of Wanga

The discovery of gold does not pass without a trace for professional researchers. But this happens only when it is found a lot and at once. If we recall the early death of the English Lord Carnarvon, members of the Howard Carter expedition, who discovered the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhomon, the scythologist B. Mozolevsky, the discoverer of Varna gold in Bulgaria I. Ivanov, and other, less famous people, then you involuntarily think …

When interpreting dreams about treasures, the Bulgarian soothsayer Vanga said: “You shouldn't waste time looking for a quick and easy way to get rich. Just what you have earned through honest and hard work will bring you income and peace of mind.”

The popular belief of Belarusians claims that only a sinless being - an animal, a child or a saint - is given to find the treasure. But are you one of them? Let's think about these words!
