Australian analysts consider the chances of the destruction of civilization high starting in 2050 and call on the world to mobilize all over the world to combat climate change.

Breakthrough - National Center for Climate Restoration is an independent think tank based in Australia. It includes prominent scientists, politicians and public figures and has been working on global climate change issues since 2014. The group recently released a new report on near and mid-term forecasts, and the findings were extremely frightening. Climate change has been called an existential threat to civilization, and a very close one: according to analysts, by 2050, the life of mankind will change dramatically.

The key contributor to the report was former Australian Defense Secretary and retired Admiral Chris Barrie, an active conservationist. In his opinion, climate change by 2050 may have "extremely serious consequences" for security, which are not only very likely, but also difficult to predict, since mankind has not experienced anything similar in scale over the past thousand years.

According to Chris Barry, the continuation of the existing trends in global warming will cause an increase in average temperature by 3 ° C, after which the changes will become irreversible. At the same time, the ex-admiral believes that the point of no return has practically been passed and today we are rapidly moving towards the destruction of the normal biosphere, and with it - of states and the usual order of international relations. Huge masses of people will be forced to move from places that have become uninhabited, and will face even more lack of clean water. Agricultural productivity will fall sharply, and in the still fertile subtropical zones, it will become completely impossible.

“Even a warming of 2 ° C will mean the displacement of more than a billion people, and in less favorable scenarios, the scale of destruction will be beyond our ability to predict, until the complete end of civilization,” writes Chris Barry. The ex-admiral believes that the only way to mitigate the catastrophe will be a global mobilization of the efforts of the entire world community. Something like what happened during the Second World War, but focused on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and restoring the Earth's climate.
