Tamara Samsonova looks like a typical Russian grandmother. She is short and fragile in appearance. But at 68, she still holds on firmly with her teeth clenched tightly. Samsonova was captured on video from a CCTV camera carrying what later turned out to be the severed head of her neighbor Valentina Ulanova. Cutting off Valentina's head, Samsonova boiled it on the stove and hid the remains outside.

Tamara then said that she decided to teach Vera a lesson for leaving dirty dishes in the apartment they shared and for asking her to move out of her apartment. As a result, Vera lost consciousness, and Tamara began to dismember her while she was still alive.

Samsonova was assigned a forensic psychiatric examination, which took place on November 26, 2015. She told the press that she welcomed the judge's verdict.
The examination established that Tamara Samsonova was found insane, poses a danger to herself and others, and therefore she was placed in a specialized medical institution pending the end of the investigation. In December of the same year, she was sent for compulsory psychiatric treatment to a specialized psychiatric hospital in Kazan. She was alive as of February 2019.
