The material is based on Vantablack, developed by scientists from Surrey NanoSystems (UK) and it absorbs 99.96% of the incident light. Our brain cannot cope with this, so it seems to you that on the screensaver and in the photo below there is a black flat figure, although in fact it is a sphere!

The name Vantablack comes from VANTA (vertically arranged carbon nano-tubes) and black (black)
But from a very fresh: scientists at MIT (University of Technology, Massachusetts) broke the Vantablack record, their material absorbs 99.995% of light (10 times more). Even the best monitor (usually 12-bit) cannot deliver this black level - 14.5 bits are needed.
