Russian aeronautics intend to solve the riddle of the Baikal "Bermuda Triangle"

Russian travelers will take a hot air balloon flight through the anomalous zone of Lake Baikal, popularly called the "Bermuda Triangle".

“The flight is scheduled for September 9th. The balloon on which the flight will be carried out is equipped with the latest navigation systems. If the final goal of the trip is achieved, the record will be fixed by representatives of the Russian committee of the Guinness Book of Records,”the organizers of the event said in a press release from the organizers of the event, which was received by Interfax.

The first attempts to fly across Baikal were made in 1907 by an aeronautical battalion of the Russian Army. Then the verdict was passed that it is unsafe to fly across the lake, the press release notes.

Over the years, several expeditions have gone missing in an attempt to unravel the mystery of the lake's anomalous zone. Those lucky enough to return claimed to have seen strange things, such as glowing balls, huge human-like creatures, sparkling concentric circles. At the same time, many argued that everything they saw was accompanied by a loss in time.

Scientists have been trying to discover the secret of the "enchanted place" for many years. So far, it has been possible to find out the reason for the danger of finding people in the anomalous zone - exorbitant levels of radiation activity have been recorded there. However, the participants of the upcoming trip are sure that they will be able to fly over the lake, the organizers of this action emphasize.

According to eyewitnesses, the abnormal movement of air currents interferes with crossing the airspace over the lake. According to one version, it was the abnormal air currents that caused the crash of the Mi-2 helicopter in 2005.

This helicopter took off on July 13, 2005 from the village of Oek for a planned flight over the territories of the Pribaikalsky and Baikal-Lensky reserves to identify the centers of forest fires. The helicopter fell into Lake Baikal near Cape Ryty about 40 meters from the coast and sank at a depth of more than 40 meters. Two pilots were killed, there were no passengers on board.

The accident investigation committee concluded that the crash resulted from the separation of the tail rotor gearbox from the helicopter in the air.
