Agroglyphs are drawings made in the fields. They are geometric shapes formed in the fields as a result of lodged stalks of cereals. The ears are twisted clockwise or counterclockwise.
Drawings can be both small and vice versa, very large, which can only be viewed from a great height. They are found in almost 50 countries around the world, but most often in England. Until today, new figures appear regularly.
Images in the margins are studied by the science of cereology - a pseudoscientific direction in science. There is a myth about how this name originated. Among the ancient Romans, one of the goddesses who personified fertility - Ceres, was depicted with a crown of ears of wheat, in honor of her, the science of cereology was named. In the 16th century, crop circles frightened people greatly, as they were considered hellish marks.
Circle history
The first mention of circles dates back to 1503. The most complete documented information is contained in a small brochure published in England "The Devil-Mower" in the early 17th century, now it is in the British Museum.
In 1686, Robert Plot, professor of chemistry, wrote a book called "The Natural History of Staffordshire," in which he tried to explain the phenomenon of circles. Obviously, the professor, in order not to be accused of incompetence, tried to interpret this phenomenon in different ways. First, he blamed demonic forces for this, then put forward a version of animals, and only then attributed all the merits to man. As a result, after much deliberation, I came to the conclusion that the circles appeared as a result of a lightning strike.
In the modern world, crop drawings were first discovered in Britain in the first quarter of the last century. At first they were primitive, then they became more and more complex and consisted of about 500 elements. At the time, circles were common. Elderly people living in Sussex recall that they played among the drawings in the fields as children and no one saw anything unusual in this.

Myths and fairy tales
In British folklore, there are often legends about circles called fairy circles. Sometimes myths describe them as entrances to magical worlds, or as a place where sorcerers and elves gather.
One of the legends tells about a mysterious story that happened in 1678 in England. The newspaper published an article entitled "The Devil Mower", and the accompanying drawing depicted a devil mowing grass.
According to legend, one farmer argued for a long time with an employee about the price for mowing a field. The farmer did not agree to pay the amount of oats required by the worker and said that he would rather invite the devil. At night, people saw a flame at this place, but in the morning it turned out that the ears were not burned, but carefully cut.
This phenomenon is also mentioned in Slavic legends. Ershov in the fairy tale "The Little Humpbacked Horse" mentions that someone "stirring" wheat at night, obviously in Russia they knew about the appearance of mysterious drawings.
Signs of true circles
The British Douglas and Chorley admitted that they were the ones who made drawings with primitive tools - sticks and ropes, more than 250 figures. Now there are groups of people who are engaged in hoax, for fun or for other reasons. Because of this, many of the members of the committee for paranormal research consider the drawings to be fakes.
At the moment, there are already signs by which it is possible to determine figures of unknown origin:

⦁ the grain is deformed;
⦁ plants have strange spaces, as if warmed up from the inside;

⦁ in the figures, radiation increases and the magnetic field changes;
⦁ inside the drawings they find a substance in a jelly-like form, scientists have come to the conclusion that such a substance simply does not exist on earth;
⦁ Often dead animals are found in the place of circles, with cavities burnt from the inside.
The man-made ears are broken, and of unknown origin are twisted and grow at an angle. This is the main mystery of the phenomenon.
Reasons for the appearance of circles
The most popular version of the appearance of drawings is the antics of aliens. Perhaps a message from humanoids to earthlings. Confirmation of this - eyewitnesses saw unidentified luminous objects, strange sounds, and the next day, pictograms appeared in this place.
Natural causes are vortex air currents, which can often be found in some regions. Against this theory - vortex flows cannot create complex patterns.

Interest in circles has risen sharply in recent decades, with new figures constantly being mentioned. They are getting larger and more complex in configuration, sometimes they include more than 400 elements. They depict animals, all kinds of symbols, mathematical equations and even DNA spirals.
In 1995, circles appeared in Hampshire depicting the Sun, Venus, Mars, and Jupiter's orbits. The image of the planets on the field corresponded to the position of the planets, which were observed on the day of the Mariner 9 spacecraft stay on Mars.
The largest picture recorded to this day was taken in August 2001 in Waltshire, England. There were found circles with a diameter of about 267 meters, consisting of 409 circles.
Not far from the Barbary castle, another complex formation was found, the diameter of which was about 46 meters and represented the number Pi - 3.14.
In just one night, a drawing "Butterfly Man" appeared, made in the Netherlands in 2009, its size is 530 x 450 meters.
Riddles with circles, although they are considered by many to be a joke of funny people, cannot be treated unambiguously. There are too many signs that indicate that they were not made by human hands. Many of them carry cryptic messages.
