It is located a couple of kilometers from Lake Baikal on the right bank of the Anga River and eight kilometers from the village of Elantsy. It is a dome of a forty-meter mound, built of large granite slabs, towering over the valley. Its outlines are so regular in shape that it seems as if it was created by people. In the course of the geological studies carried out, the involvement of people in the construction of the mound was not established.
Mount Yord has long had a strong influence on the life of the local population. Once a year, many pilgrims from all over the Baikal region came here. During this holiday, hundreds and thousands of people gathered in a round dance to perform a ritual dance around the mountain. One dance could recruit up to a thousand dancers. The main condition for the dance was the opportunity for all the dancing people to join hands and form a vicious circle around the mound. Only in this case the holiday began. If the number of people to cover the mound was not enough, the holiday acquired the status of a failed one. The stories of local residents indicate that sometimes there were so many visiting people that not one, but even two or three round dances were led around the mound. Two or three thousand pilgrims could come to a holiday in one year. But this does not always happen.
During the celebration, shamans climb to the top of Mount Yord for rituals. Ordinary people at this time cannot climb to the top. According to one of the legends, during the celebration, a rich local resident of Daley covered the whole mound with white lamb skins. He had so many sheep that he did not know how to count. In order to find out about their safety, he drove the sheep to a large island: if they completely filled the entire island, then their number was considered not to decrease. During the Yordyn games, the rich man Daley took out white lamb skins from his barns and covered the sacred mountain Yord with them.
White skins of lambs have a special ritual significance among the Khorin Buryats. With their help, local women in the spring performed the rite of luring happiness and wealth ("dalgaabalga") and receiving heavenly grace ("hasheghurilha"). To do this, during the flight of birds, they went out into the street with a milk box, at the bottom of which they poured a little sour cream or milk, and covered it with the skin of a white lamb. Women sprinkled milk to meet the birds, made rotational movements with a bucket and at the same time conjured: "A bad one, a bad one, a bad one!", That is, "Come, come, come!"
The Buryats-Khorintsy considered the white swan to be their progenitor, which on its wings brought them happiness, wealth and prosperity. Mount Yord, covered with white lamb skins, also appears to have ritual significance, as in the rituals performed by women.

The Yordyn Games, a festival of indigenous Baikal peoples, was resumed in 2000 after a 100-year break. They were attended by representatives of all tribes and clans of the Republic of Buryatia, as well as the Aginsky and Ust-Ordynsky districts. Currently, near Mount Yord, the festival is held every four years.
