On the eve of the outgoing year, I really want to congratulate all colleagues, friends, friends and relatives. Even though fewer and fewer people celebrate this holiday every year, for the majority it continues to be one of the most important on the calendar. And I think this is correct. Traditions are formed over generations, and it would not be entirely wise to break them. The point is not why this day is designated as the beginning of the new year, but how we treat it.

Despite such popular love, the New Year remains one of the most unknown holidays, shrouded in delusions and the most ridiculous speculations. Someone considers it an ancient tradition that came to Russia along with Christianity, someone is sure that a decorated Christmas tree and Santa Claus with a Snow Maiden are a gift from Peter the Great, but few people know that this tradition is just a little over a hundred years. And the Russian Orthodox Church, up to 1942, carried out persecutions of Father Frost with the Snow Maiden in general. Why? Yes, because she considered the rite, instituted at the end of the nineteenth century, to be a pagan heresy.

He was outside the law even from the moment the Bolsheviks came to power as a relic of tsarism. Only in 1936, on the personal instructions of I. V. Stalin, the celebration of the New Year was returned to the people. But at that time, Santa Claus did not have any Snow Maiden, and he himself had many names: Moroz, Morozko, Elovik, Elnik, Grandfather, Dedko, Posvist, Karachun, Zimnik, Zyuzya and many others. etc. And only from the moment of dispatch of special methodological recommendations of the People's Commissariat of Education of the USSR to the departments of consumer services, at last, the New Year began to be celebrated uniformly throughout the country. What does household services have to do with it? Yes, despite the fact that initially the holding of New Year's celebrations was part of the scope of this service, and only then it was transferred to the care of cultural figures.

But in fact, Santa Claus is a character of Slavic pagan mythology, and his name is Karachun, and his nickname is Frost. When our ancestors said that "Frost is cracking" outside the window, this meant that a thin, tall old man with a gray beard - Karachun - had escaped from the underworld of Chernobog and was now running through forests and fields, pounding with a stick on spruce trees and on ice on streams, lakes and rivers, and therefore they crack. And now we call the cold frost, not even thinking about how pitiful we are in our ignorance of the traditions of our wise ancestors.

Actually, "karachun" means "chernobog", but it was clear to everyone that the God of death himself did not run through the woods with a stick, he had more important things to do. And Karachun-Moroz is his embodiment on Earth, in the explicit world, in which the living are. And, being on Earth, Karachun obeyed only Veles, therefore they say that the knob of the stick with which Frost knocked on the fir trees was made in the form of a bull's head.

And Moroz was by no means a kind grandfather, who gave gifts to children as a reward for reading a rhyme. He himself collected tribute in cities and villages, therefore in the villages after the end of the Time of the Black Sun (when it dies for three days in December to rise on the twenty-fifth day for a further journey towards summer), the owners put a saucer of oatmeal in the corner of the hut as a sacrifice Karachun.

The sacrifice was needed so that during the winter Frost would not destroy the gardens and fields with winter crops. The very name of the old man contains the meaning of his existence. "Pestilence" means death. And he came to earth at a time when the course of life in the explicit world was ruled by Mara-Morena, one of the main goddesses in Slavic mythology, the Goddess of death, winter and cold. Her name also has the root "pestilence", that is, death.

Please do not forget that after the “death” of the Sun, a new Sun was born on the day of the winter solstice! And our ancestors, pagan sun worshipers, celebrated Christmas on this day! But not Jesus, but the Christmas of the Sun.

And more … I think this is paramount: do not confuse our Frost with the bloodthirsty dwarf Santa. When you see a git in a red cap, chase him in three necks. He is a stranger to us. One of the many elements designed to replace our culture, which is distinguished by philanthropy, kindness, justice, a positive attitude towards nature and surrounding creatures, in order to plant a nasty cult of violence and egocentrism.

This, of course, should be known to everyone who considers himself Russian, but at the same time it is not at all necessary to deprive himself and his loved ones, especially children, of such a bright, exciting, optimistic holiday. The day when the houses smell of fragrant pine needles, tangerines and champagne. When the premonition of the night mystery makes children tremble during their daytime sleep. When everyone is immersed in sweet chores that do not tire, but only increase the delight of approaching the main moment of the year - the clinking of glasses, the chimes, the cannonade of firecrackers at the table and fireworks in the streets and squares. When everyone makes wishes for the next year and certainly believes that everything will come true!

Happy new year friends! Let him be better than the one leaving. Happiness, joy, health to you and your loved ones, fulfillment of desires and everything that you yourself want on this day!
