How could an alien civilization, whose representatives supposedly visited our planet many thousands of years ago, could establish contact with us - people living in the 21st century?

It can be assumed that she used the same "language" that we use when sending messages into the depths of the Universe addressed to representatives of alien intelligence (for example, messages on board both American probes Voyager and Pioneer), that is, on the most universal language - the language of mathematics.

Perhaps they tried to leave such messages in the form of a kind of "time capsule". And it is quite possible that earthly cultures in their religious and cult architecture, oral and written traditions, art, etc. have inherited some of these messages.

On the reverse side of one bronze Celtic mirror, which is more than two thousand years old, an exquisite, highly artistic ornament has been preserved. Its symbolism reflects surprisingly intertwining fractals, or Mandelbrot sets.

What are fractals?

Fractal geometry can be used to depict complex mathematical concepts. For the first time this concept was introduced in 1983 by the mathematician Benoit Mandelbrot. With their help, it is possible to mathematically reliably describe certain objects, formations and processes, and such fractals are characterized by a well-known fundamental geometric pattern, or similarity.

If we carefully examine them with more and more large magnification, it turns out that every time we return to the same initial forms. In this way, it is possible to describe natural processes, phenomena and objects with much higher accuracy than using traditional formulas or calculations.

The study of fractals is to a large extent a "child" of the computer age, since to describe the Mandelbrot or Julia sets, for example, enormous amounts of mathematical operations are required. Optically transforming in different planes and dimensions, forming surprisingly graceful symmetric ornamental configurations, fractals are constantly - up to infinity - increasing in size.

And here it is necessary to emphasize the most important thing: the whole world of living and inanimate nature, the entire Universe, both in micro- and macro-dimensions, from a mathematical point of view, consists of fractals.

The mirror in question dates back to the world of Celtic culture. Between 350 BC. and the first centuries A. D. the Celts fully ruled the lands of what is now France, Germany, the Czech Republic and Slovenia, and subsequently settled throughout Europe.

The reverse side of this mirror shows two bilaterally symmetric Mandelbrot sets, identical to each other and breaking up into small areas, but ultimately reduced to large values.

If this drawing did not arise simply (which is extremely unlikely) as a result of a spontaneous glimpse of the genius of an unknown Celtic artist who created these forms purely by accident, then we have before us a real fractal of two thousand years of antiquity, and moreover, such a complex one that we can get today only with help the most complex calculations on the computer.

The next step in the analysis of this mirror, apparently, will consist in the fact that mathematicians will ask a question and try to figure out which specific function is depicted here. What does this mathematical formula carry, this message, with the help of which some information was transmitted from the past directly to our time?

Apparently the handle of the mirror is also part of this message. In its design, the outlines of intertwining circles or rings are easily guessed, and its upper ring, as it were, increases the main motif of the fractal.

It is possible - with a certain stretch - to assume that this depicts the emergence of our Universe and a twin Universe, consisting of antimatter (which symbolizes the mirror image of one half of the fractal of the other), which occurred after the collapse of the previous Universe.

This assumption is based on the hypothesis of a pulsating universe, which arose as a result of the Big Bang and since then has been constantly expanding, only to then contract again, turning into a "Big Compression", after which a new "Big Bang" will occur, and everything will start all over again. But only new, more precise mathematical research can prove - or disprove - this hypothesis.

There are other ancient bronze Celtic mirrors made in the La Tenen style and with a pattern similar to fractals. Although here it is much more primitive than on the artifact from Desborough. What is encrypted in these images?
