Eyewitnesses living in the north of Norway told about a strange phenomenon that appeared in the sky. Against the background of flashes of the northern lights, glowing balls of blue and purple appeared, which twinkled above some crimson spirals. Aliens have arrived, people decided.
An explanation appeared the other day. It was given by NASA, whose specialists staged the show. It turns out that it was not the alien ships that glowed like that, but the particles of barium, strontium and aluminum. Two geophysical rockets took them to an altitude of about 500 kilometers and sprayed them there. The particles "flashed", penetrated by ionizing radiation - the same that causes the aurora borealis. The researchers monitored the behavior of the "blazing" particles - how they interact with the ionosphere. The scientists were satisfied with the results, and the observers liked it. Although scared.

The rockets were launched on April 5 from the Andoya Space Center in Norway as part of the AZURE (The Auroral Zone Upwelling Rocket Experiment) experiment. Many managed to photograph the "aliens" hovering in the sky. Pictures and videos were posted by SpaceWeather.com.
