Mother Matrona
The Russian prophetess Matrona of Moscow was born at the end of the 19th century and died in 1952. She was blind from birth and, moreover, with closed eyelids. But when the newborn was immersed in the baptismal font, the church was filled with an unearthly aroma.
At the same time, a pink cross stood out clearly on the baby's chest. The priest who baptized her declared to all those present in the church that the baptized child is the message of God. After three years, it turned out that the girl has spiritual vision. She even saw what the sighted could not see: overseas cities, which she told people about with exceptional accuracy.
Until the age of 16, she managed to visit the Kiev-Pechersk and Sergiev-Troitskaya Lavra, in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Kronstadt. The Monk John of Kronstadt immediately noticed the girl (who was at that time 14 years old) among other pilgrims-pilgrims, calling her "the eighth pillar of Russia."
At the age of 17, Matrona lost her legs, but at the same time she gained clairvoyance and began to prophesy and heal the terminally ill. The Soviet authorities mercilessly persecuted the prophetess and healer, therefore, throughout her life, the sufferer was hidden from unjust reprisals in communal apartments and the basements of residential buildings in Moscow and the Moscow region.

Holy prophecy
The official bodies did not leave the seer alone even when Stalin himself visited her in the difficult days of late autumn 1941. When he asked what would happen to the capital of the country, she firmly answered him: "Moscow will not be taken by Hitler!"
Perhaps it was this statement of the clairvoyant who breathed some confidence into the leader, so that subsequently, at all the most critical moments of the battle near Moscow, he never thought of evacuating the Soviet government from the besieged city to the east of the country.
Metropolitan Elijah
Immediately after the attack on June 22, 1941 by Nazi Germany on the Soviet Union, the Patriarch of Antioch, representing Orthodoxy in the Christian Church, appealed to Christians all over the world to pray for the salvation of Russia.
Today we can say with complete confidence that all Christian people have responded to the call of the Antioch Church. In almost all European countries (excluding Hitler's allies), as well as in the United States and Canada, social movements in support of our country soon arose, whose activities led first to helping us from the West with weapons, weapons and food, and then to the opening of a second front.
But the most ardent prayer book for the Land of the Soviets was the Metropolitan of the Lebanese Mountains (Patriarchate of Antioch) Elijah.
Praying to God to protect Russia from the invasion of enemies, he went into the seclusion to ask the Mother of God to answer him how it was possible to save her beloved Russia. Descending into a deep stone dungeon, where not a single sound from the outside world could be heard, Vladyka locked himself there without food, water or sleep with a single icon of the Blessed Virgin and was in a state of prayer continuously for three days. After 72 hours of a truly heroic vigil, the Mother of God appeared to him in a pillar of fire and named the conditions that must certainly be met in Russia. Otherwise, the state will perish.
Here are Her requirements, recorded by St. Elijah: “Churches, monasteries, theological academies and seminaries must be opened throughout the country. The priests must be returned from the penal battalions so that they can immediately begin serving God. Now Leningrad is being prepared for surrender, you cannot surrender it! Let the miraculous icon of the Kazan Mother of God be brought out there and carried in a procession around the city …
Before the Kazan Mother of God, a prayer service must be served in Moscow. Then it must be sent to Stalingrad, which also cannot be surrendered to the enemy. After the battle on the Volga, the miraculous icon must follow with the troops to the original borders of Russia. And when the war is over, Metropolitan Elijah should visit the Russian state and tell about how it was saved."
Salvation of Russia
Having learned about the religious vigils of a high-ranking Orthodox monk from Lebanon, Joseph Vissarionovich immediately summoned the chief saint of the Russian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Alexy, and promised him that he would faithfully fulfill everything that was handed down on behalf of the Lebanese Orthodox seer, adding that he had no other way out as the head of state. at this time he simply does not see.
By order of I. V. Stalin and in agreement with Metropolitan Alexy with the icon of the Kazan Mother of God, they walked around the city on the Neva in a religious procession. And, as it turned out later, he withstood the devilish enemy: the blockade was broken.
After this significant event, the image of the Mother of God began its journey through the most important places of the battles of the Great Patriotic War.
The next miracle of the impact of the Orthodox shrine was Moscow. First, with this icon, the plane was sanctioned by Stalin and at the direction of G. K. Zhukov flew around the capital, after which a prayer service was performed in front of her in the city itself. A few days later came the culmination of the great battle for the mother of Russian cities. German troops, which almost surrounded the capital of Holy Russia, were defeated and driven away from it at a distance that reliably protected from the next attempt by the Nazis to overcome Moscow.
A year later, according to the recommendation of Elijah, the icon of the Kazan Mother of God was already on the battlefield of Stalingrad. In front of the icon, prayers and memorial services were continuously performed. And at the most critical moment of the battle, when the Soviet troops almost lost heart, the image of the Mother of God appeared in close-up in the western sky. It inspired our soldiers, gave them courage, and they decisively went on the attack and overthrew the Germans who were pressing them.
At the request of the Mother of God, transferred to the metropolitan, by the middle of 1943, 20,000 churches were opened, and the surviving repressed clergy returned to their duties.
Some time after that, Marshal B. M. Shaposhnikov, who became a general even before the revolution, a man, of course, a believer, testified that he had repeatedly observed how I. V. Stalin performed church rituals in an appropriate manner, which means that he prayed to God as it should be.
The icon of the Kazan Mother of God completed its combat path at the most western borders of Russia, near Konigsberg, which was defended by the Germans for a long time and very stubbornly. But the Russian priests served a prayer service near the city at the forefront of the Soviet troops. And what happened, perhaps, can be considered a miracle: the German troops suddenly weakened their defenses. As a result, many of them began to die, or hundreds and even thousands of people began to surrender.
As it turned out after the capture of Konigsberg, the Germans who were in the city during a prayer service before the icon of the Kazan Mother of God suddenly saw an angry Madonna in the sky (as they call the Mother of God), and the weapon refused to obey them: their hands did not rise to shoot. Since all the prophecies of the Lebanese Orthodox Metropolitan came true, in 1947 the leader of the Land of the Soviets invited him to visit the USSR.
