Many people believe that life was very good during the Soviet Union: there was order everywhere and in everything, people were striving for a "bright future." However, in this whole idyll there is one small trick: the women of those times grew old extremely quickly. Why did this happen?

Many joys of life were unknown to the fair sex of those times

In the late 50s of the last century, women from the Soviet Union visited the glorious French fashion house Chanel for the first time. It was then that the ladies from the USSR first saw what girls look like abroad. They were very surprised - after all, on the territory of the then Land of the Soviets, society was erected on a pedestal, not a person. And this led to the fact that the individual was just a gear in a gigantic state mechanism. There is nothing surprising in the fact that women in the USSR grew old very early - after all, they put their whole lives on the altar of family and country.

Women's goals in the USSR

What was required of the fair sex of those times? First of all, they were supposed to be good support for their spouses. They had to cook, clean, iron, and wash. And all this is in addition to the main work. Which, by the way, was very difficult in many cases. The only "caste" of women who could afford to take care of themselves were the spouses of politicians or famous actresses.

By the way, women in general then could not afford to paint brightly. This was not accepted - after all, if you apply, say, a bright shade of lipstick on your lips, you can be considered a woman of easy virtue.

A scarcity spreading to all areas of life

It was difficult to get various personal care products. Now girls have everything for simple female happiness. And then there is a constant deficit. And no special institutions like modern spas existed then. Soviet ladies were not even aware of the existence of conventional sanitary napkins. They appeared for the first time only in the late 70s, and even then they were in short supply. Although there was no particular sense in standing in line for gaskets of the past: these products were very bulky.

There is nothing surprising in the fact that during the Soviet era, ladies very quickly said goodbye to their youth. Often, even those women who, all other things being equal, might have looked good, seemed older only because of their clothes and lack of personal care.

Hard work

During the Soviet era, women were often engaged in purely male labor. They laid sleepers, worked at a construction site, and dragged weights. The constant hard physical work and the lack of the necessary hygiene products inexorably spoiled the appearance of the fair sex. After all, a woman's most important purpose was motherhood. And she was supposed to break into a cake, but give birth and raise worthy defenders of the fatherland and the same loyal and loyal patriots to the country.

Was it easy to be a citizen of the Soviet Union?

Modern fans of the USSR constantly talk about how good life was in those days. And what a high, most importantly, the birth rate was! But they do not pay attention to the fact that such an indicator is characteristic, first of all, of poor countries - those that belong to the category of developing countries. Most of the children born in such conditions are unwanted. And they grow up to be completely unhappy people.

The then and modern world

Now women at 30 years old often look 20, and at 40 or 50 - a maximum of 35. Even if they have children, ladies have the opportunity to take good care of themselves. On the street they are often called "girls". But their peers of the past era were already real old women. Their backs were bent with hard work, they walked with handkerchiefs tied on their heads. So you shouldn't listen to tales about all the advantages of scientific progress or other achievements in the era of the USSR. Just look at the woman of that time.

Ordinary workers, mothers, sisters and friends - they all lived a real life, and not in an embellished world, as modern fans of "Soviet romance" portray. And there were a lot of difficulties on their way. Perhaps, many modern girls would hardly have been able to cope with such a burden that fell on the shoulders of their peers of the Soviet era. Yes, and in our time there are many problems. But at least most women always have pads and a quality antiperspirant. And this is already important.
