Baba Vanga, nicknamed the blind Nostradamus of the Balkans, made a series of frightening predictions about World War III that inflame the imaginations of conspiracy theorists.
The prophetess, who died in 1996 at the age of 85, allegedly made hundreds of predictions about the fate of mankind without leaving her home in Petrich (Bulgaria), and 85% of them came true.
On closer inspection (to which her predictions on the Internet are exposed), it turns out that Baba Wanga warned about the conflict in Syria, nuclear war and the death of the American president.
In the turbulent atmosphere of recent months, her prophecies are taking on new solidity, given the constant threats of nuclear war that the US and DPRK governments are exchanging.
Vanga, who knew how to give out bizarre maxims and easy nonsense, predicted that the world would be mired in war and turn into a "desert, almost devoid of all manifestations of life."
It will start in the Arab Spring of 2010 and continue after the clash in Syria, where “Muslims will use chemical weapons against the Europeans,” and ultimately lead to the creation of a caliphate centered in Rome by 2043, Wanga said.

She referred to her own (unconfirmed) visions, predicting that most people would die from skin cancer caused by chemical weapons; this dire picture reminds some particularly impressionable interpreters of the recent use of sarin in Syria.
Political geeks also frequently cite Wanga's prophecy that the 45th US president will face a crisis that will "destroy the country."
Vanga, revered in Russia as the possessor of supernatural abilities, allegedly predicted September 11 when she said that the "iron birds" were attacking the "American brothers".
In 1989, she predicted:
“Fear, fear! The American brothers will fall, pecked by iron birds. Wolves will howl from the bush, and innocent blood will flow like a river."
Some believe she also predicted global warming when she foresaw that "colder places will warm … and volcanoes will awaken."
Moreover, Wanga's supporters claim that she predicted the Indian Ocean tsunami in 2004, predicting a "huge wave" that would hit the "great coast, swallowing up people and cities, hiding everything under water."
Some visionaries even believe that she predicted Britain's exit from the EU when she said that Europe as we know it "will cease to exist."
While her prophecies may seem more weighty after her death, playing on palpable global tensions and public fears, do not forget that Wanga was mistaken in her prediction of the outcome of the 1994 FIFA World Cup when she predicted a match between "two B teams." …
In fact, Brazil beat Italy 3-2 on penalties. So much for the clairvoyant.
