Even after the baptism of Russia, some ancient Slavic signs and rituals remain alive to this day.

This is especially true of various animals - in terms of attributing various mystical properties to them, our ancestors were great masters.

And although today such signs are hard to believe, they were once part of everyday life.

Cockroaches are best friends and bring abundance

Today, we associate cockroaches with diseases, problems with the house and unsanitary conditions rather than with prosperity and well-being. In addition, baleen insects carry many diseases. However, it used to be believed that a house without cockroaches is a beggar, and with cockroaches it is rich. From now on, wealth was measured simply - if the cockroach is red, then not too much profit will come, but if the black one is simply huge. So even when moving to a new place, cockroaches were planted in a bag with things, which were then carefully released to a new place.

Bears - will help determine the gender of the child

As crazy as it sounds, the fact remains - with the help of bears, pregnant women determined the sex of the child. For this procedure, they went to fairs, where tame bears were brought to the expectant mother and a treat was placed in front of him. If the bear ate calmly and without haste, they promised a son, and if quickly - a daughter.

Also, the bear has long been known as a totem Slavic animal, an assistant to the god Veles himself. Therefore, he is called respectfully "the owner of the forest" - even today. A clump of bear hair in the house was also useful - according to old beliefs, such a talisman brought good luck.

Cats - help you find treasure

In Slavic traditions, a cat is revered as a keeper of the hearth, since it is strongly attached to the place in which it lives. Also among her merits are wisdom and dexterity, thanks to which many fairy-tale characters were born (for example, the cat Bayun). They searched for them with the help of cats and treasure - however, in a very original way. It was believed that if you go out into a night field or night forest and see the sparkle of a cat's eyes, then you need to go and dig - after all, the cat "highlighted" the treasures. And of course, ginger cats, considered a symbol of a rich life, occupied a special place.

Frog - will drive away evil spirits

Frogs, despite the annoying croaking, have always been held in high esteem by the Slavs. Our ancestors believed that a frog living near the house or even in the house itself would scare away evil spirits, so killing a frog was a very bad act and promised problems. The frog was also a symbol of prosperity - due to its closeness to the goddess Lada.
