Researchers have discovered a unique sponge in the Atlantic Ocean that grows at a depth of 2 kilometers.
Its uniqueness lies in the fact that this sponge contains an extremely powerful antibiotic.
This miracle antibiotic was identified after researchers noticed that a tiny piece of the sponge destroyed all human intestinal bacteria in the same petri dish.
Including the sponge overcame such a terrible bacterium as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
According to scientists, the discovery of this substance could be a golden age in the use of antibiotics. However, they stipulate that before the substance gets into the hands of doctors, it may take another ten years, during which the antibiotic will be studied and tested.
The discovery was made by experts from the University of Bristol. They set out to find sponges that grow in the most extreme conditions and found five such sponges at great depths in different parts of the Atlantic Ocean.
Scientists collected and froze samples, and then in the laboratory found out that intestinal superbugs were killed by a special spongy bacterium called "Bacteria 46". This is the very miracle medicine that can save millions of human lives in the future.

Scientists are now growing colonies of these bacteria in a laboratory to test them for toxicity and side effects. After all, it may turn out that having cured one disease, these bacteria will infect a person with another.
The problem of the emergence of superbugs, which even the most powerful modern antibiotics do not help to fight, has become more and more urgent in recent years. According to medical data, superbugs now kill about 50,000 people in Europe and the United States every year.
