An unnamed Japanese worker lost his arm below the elbow in a factory accident. The limb was accidentally caught by the machine mechanism, twisted and torn off.
Usually, such injuries mean the loss of legal capacity for the rest of your life, however, Japanese doctors decided to take the risk and sew the severed limb back, despite the fact that it was very badly damaged.
When the severed hand arrived at the disposal of the surgeons, it was stuffed with metal shavings, and also partially skinned from it.
When the surgeons cleaned the tissues of foreign bodies, they began to suture the blood vessels and fix the bones.
Four days after the first surgery, doctors proceeded to the second stage and transplanted pieces of muscle and skin taken from a healthy part of the arm into the crippled arm. Then the limb was placed in a special vacuum bandage.
After 19 days, doctors examined the wound and noted that it was healing well. By that time, the patient was practically unable to move his arm, but the doctors were sure that he would recover most of his motor functions after physiotherapy.
So it happened, and when his arm became more mobile, the patient was transferred to a rehabilitation center, where therapy was continued.

After 9 months, the worker is still not able to fully use the hand as it was before the injury, but can already actively move the injured hand and perform many actions.
According to Yoshida, most often with such injuries, patients are content with prostheses, but replantation (engraftment of a separated limb) is a much better way out.
