34-year-old nurse Katie Van Nostrand from the US state of Colorado suffers from a rare allergy to movement. The woman admits that the minimal stress caused by walking the dog or having sex can be fatal for her, reports Sun.
Van Nostrand is diagnosed with anaphylaxis, a severe allergic reaction to movement and certain foods, including citrus fruits, grapes, rice, corn, and even black pepper. The reason why the American woman suddenly begins to choke and swell for no apparent reason, doctors could not establish for years.
Van Nostrand first showed symptoms of the strange disease when she was 22 years old.
“I went for a run with a friend and after a few minutes I felt really bad. I didn't understand what was happening. A friend lifted my T-shirt and was stunned. My whole body was covered with red spots, my lips were swollen, and tears began to flow from my eyes,”said Katie.
The doctors immediately made the correct diagnosis, but the doctors wondered for a long time what exactly caused the allergy in the American woman.
When it became known that Van Nostrand was, in principle, contraindicated to move, she first fell into depression, but then learned to control herself so as not to overexert herself.
“Doctors advise not to go in for sports alone. Fortunately, I have a husband who supports me in everything,”said Katie.
