Recent research in the Bay of Carpentaria in northern Australia has revealed a unique collection of 17 miniature and small-scale stencils on the walls of the cave depicting anthropomorphs, material culture, macropod footprints and linear structures.
The unusual sizes and shapes of these designs raise questions about the types of material used for stencil templates.
What stands out is a strange humanoid figure, a huge face next to the humanoid figure, and an unusual alien-like face (as they are usually depicted) in the lower left corner of the image.
Based on ethnographic data and experimental archeology, the authors claim that these compositions were created using a previously unknown screen printing technique using miniature templates sculpted from beeswax.
These results suggest that beeswax and other plastic and adhesive resins may have played a more significant role in stencil creation than previously thought.
The report released by the archaeologists does not describe who made these drawings, but it appears that the creators were in contact with an alien race.
