The deepest cave in the Far East was found in the Jewish Autonomous Region. It was discovered by members of the Onyx speleological club.
The cave is located on the Small Khingan ridge. Cavers discovered that there is a lake at the bottom of the cave, and its depth is 170 meters. The head of the caving club Viktor Shchadrin said that the exploration of the underground depression will take about a month. During this time, scientists will conduct a complete topographic survey, and then submit an application to the Commission of Speleology and Cartography of the Russian Geographical Society, which will reflect the parameters of the cave, which will allow it to be registered. Today speleologists have opened several halls. One of them is located at a depth of 115 meters and is named "Meteorite", the second hall - at the very bottom, at a depth of 170 meters, it was called "Skeleton Coast". The very same karst cavity decided to name the name of the famous Khabarovsk speleologist - "The system of Oleg Shchadrin."
Prior to this discovery, the primacy in depth in the Far East belonged to the Solyanik Cave. It was opened 40 years ago in the Primorsky Territory, its length is 125 meters.
