Laureate of the Russian Government Prize in Science and Technology Vladimir Leonov, a researcher in the field of antigravity, announced the discovery of the quantum (quantum of space-time) and the creation of a prototype of a quantum engine.

Back in 2009, he built a device that moved horizontally, while there was no wheel drive. In 2014, the inventor introduced a device that rose along the rails. With a weight of 54 kilograms, the impulse ranged from 500 to 700 kgf, and the acceleration was recorded at 10 g. The power consumption of the pilot plant is only 10 kW. For comparison: a modern liquid-propellant rocket engine generates a thrust of 0.1 kgf for each kW of energy. If Leonov's quantum engine is brought to industrial assembly, there will be a real opportunity to create spaceships with incredible characteristics. With a launch mass of one hundred tons, such a spacecraft can put 90 tons of payload into orbit. Leonov's engine provides thrust by interacting with quantized space-time, excluding the very principle of jet propulsion. In an interview, the inventor said that the spacecraft with its power plant would reach Mars in 42 hours with full compensation for weightlessness, the Moon in 3.5 hours. But these are large vehicles with a mass of 10–100 tons or more. In his opinion, it is possible to create a mini-spaceship with a quantum engine weighing from 100 grams to a kilogram powered by a nuclear battery. With continuous operation of the engine, the mini-ship can be accelerated to 0.9 the speed of light, where relativistic effects are weak. At half-light speed, it will reach Alpha Centauri in about eight years. The project may take at least five years to complete. Despite the very real results of the experiments carried out not only in Leonov's laboratory, but also in foreign scientific centers, the scientific community is skeptical about the created apparatus. According to scientists,it won't work in a vacuum. There is one more question to which there is no answer yet. No matter how ideal Leonov's engine is, it needs energy to be fed. And its source must be very powerful, such as a nuclear cold fusion reactor. Work on the creation of a quantum engine is going on not only in the laboratory of physicist Leonov. This topic is being dealt with in the USA, China, England. British engineer Roger Scheuer patented his version of the EmDrive engine, although the principles of its operation also cannot be explained in terms of conservation of momentum. According to the inventor, the design of his engine allows converting radiation into thrust. It is not possible to record the emission of photons and other particles, which could explain the occurrence of thrust. And this is a violation of a fundamental law of physics. This is precisely what Leonov's apparatus is “accused of”. Scientists from the Northwestern Polytechnic University of China, under the leadership of Professor Yang Juan, have created a prototype of a similar type of engine with a thrust of 720 millinewtons - it can be used in a satellite. NASA is showing interest in devices that violate fundamental laws.
