Many strange road accidents occur in Perm on Lyangasov Street. Locals call this place cursed and associate a large number of road accidents with the tragic events that took place here at the beginning of the twentieth century. The chapel of Mikhail of Chernigov, built on the alleged place of death of the brother of Tsar Mikhail Romanov, stands just opposite the place where incomprehensible accidents have been occurring for several years. The strangeness of all these accidents lies in the fact that the road is four-lane, there are no pedestrians or intersections, and people fly into the oncoming lane regularly.
On December 10, while climbing towards the Chapaevsky microdistrict, a terrible and ridiculous road accident occurred with two dead.
Young people in a VAZ 2112 at 20:30 were driving towards the Ordzhonikidze district and collided with a crossover, flying into the oncoming lane. A man born in 1971 was driving, he died on the spot. His nephew, who was traveling in the passenger seat, died in the ambulance car. Not the safest domestic car after the accident looked deplorable. The fact that the third passenger, a classmate of the deceased young man, survived and was not injured can be considered a miracle.
The driver of the oncoming car was also hospitalized, but his life is not in danger.
Two days earlier, also in the evening, under similar circumstances, an Opel and a BMW collided. There were no fatalities, but three people went to the hospital, and both cars - for long and expensive repairs.
Omitting a lot of accidents, which all look like a carbon copy, we can also recall the accident that occurred this fall. Then three cars got into the batch, one of which turned over, and in the other a child was injured, who was not wearing a seat belt and was driving in the back seat of a Niva without a child seat.

A crash report from this road can be released approximately once a week. Since the beginning of 2014, 28 road accidents with victims have been registered on Lyangasov Street, with 3 people killed and 44 injured. And several dozen more accidents, where there were no victims, by a lucky chance. Therefore, the place for carrying out the duty of the traffic police is just on the rise up the hill. Inspectors occupy this position so that drivers of oncoming traffic warn others about the presence of a patrol and thus reduce the flow rate.
“It so happened historically that the Perm Territory has the most direct relation to the formation, strengthening and decline of the Romanov family,” historian Dmitry Shokhov told us. - It is assumed that in the forest where the Chapaevsky microdistrict is now located, the Bolsheviks committed the first murder of a member of the Romanov family - Grand Duke Mikhail Alexandrovich. On the night of June 12-13, 1918, the Grand Duke and his secretary were shot somewhere here. By the way, the rehabilitation of the entire Romanov family took place only a century later."
Our guest does not think that all this has anything to do with the road accidents that occur here. However, it is also not undertaken to explain why accidents occur on a flat road.
However, explaining the causes of accidents is not a matter of historians, but of traffic police officers.
“This area is definitely a hotbed of accidents,” Andrey Nizhegorodov, a representative of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate for Perm, answered our questions. - All accidents are explained very simply - speeding. There are actually no pedestrians or traffic lights here. All this is the reason that drivers start to accelerate too much before going uphill. And if at low speed the bend of the road is almost irrelevant, then at speeds over 100 km / h, the slightest mistake can lead to loss of control and going into the oncoming lane, where the flow rate is also very high."
The traffic police explained that there is no way to post a patrol in this place around the clock. And if we ignore the fantastic option that our drivers suddenly begin to abruptly observe the speed limit here, then there can be only one way out. A New Jersey-style separation barrier is required on this stretch of road. A similar barrier is installed along the entire length of Yakutskaya Street, and has long since established itself as a guarantee against head-on accidents with oncoming traffic.
