In Scotland, a man fell on his wedding day and ended up in a coma. Reported by the Scottish Daily Record.

West Lothian area resident Chris Mallon helped the hotel receptionist with gifts to the bridal suite. The Scotsman stumbled over the steps of the stairs and fell into a gap in the railing. As a result, he fell from a height of almost 3.7 meters.

The man received fractures of the skull, back, hands and shoulders, bruises, and also damaged his heart and lungs. Doctors compared his condition with survivors of a car accident.

Mallon spent ten days in intensive care. When the man finally woke up, doctors discovered that he had partially lost his memory.

“I saw him come to his senses, but he was very, very embarrassed, because he did not even know that we were married,” his wife Avril told reporters.

To remind her husband of the celebration, Avril began to hum the song to which the newlyweds danced during the wedding. Then the man began to sing along, and memories began to return to him.

After that, Chris was under the supervision of doctors for several more weeks. He fell ill with pneumonia and had to be hooked up to a ventilator.

According to the initial forecasts of doctors, the recovery should have taken a year and a half, but after a month the man was able to return home.

Mallon is still prohibited from sports and any intense physical activity. He became deaf in his left ear, lost his sense of smell and stopped feeling the taste of food.
